Yeah just couldnt go back to samsung. Still rate the A8 better than note 4 except for the slightly inferior camera. My previous note 4 had so much battery life and SOT after i reflashed kitkat as compared to lollipop. Should wait for lollipop updates first and see how.

Yes, I have S5 and the android system is sucking all the juices quickly in standby time, lollipop.
Waiting for 5.1 update.

Somehow my Z3 and T2 Ultra does not have the same symptoms on lollipop, think Sony updated with stable firmware.

I wonder C5 comes with 5.0 or 5.1.

As my top pick is LG G Flex 2 so I'll use that as the example, but if u like, can use Z3 also which is around $50 more expensive than this phone.

1. The software updates will cease earlier than phones of present year.
For LG G Flex 2 will have Android M, I do believe Z3 will have also.

2. The spare parts may be limited, in case you need it under warranty repairs.
LG G Flex 2 is like 1/2 year difference of this one. The idea of warranty is that the company WILL have to compensate somehow regardless have parts of not. Z3 is like a bit older, but I bet you can get it fixed during warranty period.

3. The mid class phones will still be cheaper than flagship phones of same year, after price drop.
YES! That's what I'm trying to say all this time. This phone aren't worth the $500+ price tag and will be worth getting after the price dropped 30-40% in a couple of months.

To answer your concerns:
1. The camera had been said to be average.
- We have to wait and test it. Understandably, it may lose out to flagship phones on some levels.
So for current price of $500+, you rather get this phone over a better ex-flagship phone with better camera. That is IF the camera matters, but one of this phone highlight was supposed to be the dual 13MP camera.

2. The chipset are used on <$200 range phone like Meizu m1 note and Lenovo K3 note. Even with Sony branding asking for more than x2 that of similar performance is it really worth it?
- I am not sure that those China brand phones have good records of updating their phones with proper and stable software.
Performance wise is also dependent on software.
The C5 ultra not made in China? This is the first this Sony working with Mediatek right? IIRC, the future android update also depends if Mediatek wants to or not.
edit: Based on the roadmap MT6592 is the predecessor of MT6752. By right MT6592 supposed to get lollipop from Mediatek in May based on Mediatek lollipop roadmap. IIRC till now they still in Beta. So that gives you an idea when the C5 ultra will likely get Android M :)

3. Nevermind the 2GB RAM but at $500+ you get a 16GB storage
- I am not sure which phones offer more storage at 500 bucks, but then again there is SD card slot for up to 200 GB external storage.
LG G Flex 2 <$500 32GB with sd :D Oh yah there the G3 also, what about Z3?

I fully understand that you did not mean it is a bad phone.
It is easy to find the phone with features lacking, however it is still not flagship class so it is more acceptable for the budget-conscious crowd.

Not sure why you'll say this is a budget-conscious crowd when it's current price is just around $50 difference from previous flagship of the same brand. I'll only considered it budget conscious phone when it drops to around current M4 Aqua price :D

I see, so you are interested in Flex 2.
But C5 have bigger and flat screen for the intended crowd.

This phone is certainly cheaper than Flex 2 since 500 bucks is RRP.
Some shops will probably sell at 450 or lower, and drop further into 300-400 range.

Flex 2 will probably stopped around 400-500 range.

This is definitely budget-conscious phone since it starts at 500, it is near mid-upper class with slightly better spec and bigger screen.
Dont see flex 2 start at this price range.

And then again, if you are not willing to pay flagship prices why would you be bother with performance and camera on a mid class phone.

Cheers, man.
Enjoy your Flex 2. :D

I do have the flex 2 but as I said I only use it as an example or u can use Z3 or LG G3. I am interested in the C5 ultra as my Z ultra replacement but it won't be at $500+. I could use the LG G Pro 2 to compare if big screen is a must.

That's what I was trying say from the very beginning. This phone is worth getting after the price drop of 30-40% for what's it's offering.:s13:

FYI US recent lowest price recorded for a new LG G Flex 2 is US$250.

So a $900+ phone sold now for <$500 is not a better deal compared to a $500+ mid-range phone? Again I had been comparing as of NOW as I'd been saying this phone aren't worth $500+ for what's it's offering and will be worth looking at after the price drop of 30-40%

Because one can? :s8:

Edit: Just like you can buy this phone at $500+ if you want to. Your money, your business. Same as my criticism of this phone, my opinion. But if we quote each other, it becomes a discussion :s13:
But how many would get a new non-Apple/Samsung phone without letting the price settle first. Those that buy now, how many actually love this phone and will hold it for more than a or 2 year? :s13:

Cheers, man.
Enjoy your Flex 2. :D

Edit: Why other brands and models were being brought up
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/96174613-post82.html

Then I get quote left and right, so I'm just quote back left and right? :s13:

But it's true lor, those who interested this phone thinking that they'll get reliable update cos it's Sony never take Mediatek into consideration.

Bro u owned China phones b4 mah, you should know about Mediatek pattern. A lot of times not because the phone maker don't want to update to the latest android version, but it's cos Mediatek keeps dragging.:s13:

Some people are just too thick skinned and low eq to get it. Crashing into a party which hardly anyone knows who the **** he is and starts complaining about the food being served and goes on about getting better food while having food coupons in his hands. Yeah that pretty much sums it up.

No problem man, enjoy your flex or whatever phone you like.
And I will continue to see C5 Ultra here.

But no need for further logical discussion if you only voice your individual opinions.

Cheers.

:s13:
You were the one who ask for phone in $500 that isn't Sony with reliable software update and warranty leh:s8:
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/96174613-post82.html

After I pointed out a few ex-flagships, then you not agree and came out with 3 "concerns" like software updates will stopped, no parts, C5 ultra price will drop (Which was what I'd said from the very beginning).
Even said things like C5 ultra camera have to test then know (garychengjw comment is the camera is weak), then those China phone using same chipset software might not be updated or stable (garychengjw commented don't foresee os update for C5 ultra), also no phone in $500 range offers SD + >16GB (Fact is there are just you are too ignorant to know).
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/sony-user-group-135/xperia-c5-ultra-5118088-7.html

So after answers your questions and concerns, you come and say is my individual opinions? Bravo.:s13:

Fact is C5 ultra price will drop and likely quickly as the M4 Aqua.
Fact is there are phone available in current C5 ultra price range of $500+ that offers more.
Fact is your claim that Sony reliable updates also depends on Mediatek for this phone.
Fact is as long there's warranty, the company will repair or compensate accordingly if the phone has problem.

Don't blame me for your lack of knowledge of what's available in current market. Cheers :D

I was really hoping the cameras would be similar IMX214 as other phones. Like you I'm drawn by the big screen and thin bezel. For me also the mint color:s13:

Will wait for price to dropped then maybe buy 1 keep and retired the ultra z into my collector box :s13:
