See this thread: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/h...ff-htc-horrible-customer-service-4075788.html

I had 3 htcs before, the Touch, Diamond and Desire S. No problems with them. If not for the gap issues with the One, I would have gotten it.

Your phone has taken terribly long to come back. 3 weeks+ now already right?

HTC repaired my phone in a week, so no complaints.

Samsung was the most flexible. 3-4 days to repair, 1-1 exchange or full refund after 2 times cannot solve. But each 1-1 have to wait 3weeks or more for the set to arrive. Heard the repairs become slower after the S3 became so popular.

LG... urgh. Their NEX service centre was utterly hopeless. Their other service centre was decent but location relatively inaccessible.

Sony's service centre is OK only - need to press and make noise to sony.sg email. The service centre always claims they have limited power, and you have to escalate (and press) directly to Sony yourself.

Sad for us Android users, but Apple's service seems to be the best by far.

I did some quick testing. My router is an ASUS RT-N56U.

  1. The Xperia SP (XSP from now on) is unable to see my neighbouring access points well. Eg. At 1 location, I can pickup about 5-6 on my Samsung Galaxy S3 (SGS3), while the Xperia only shows 1-2.
  2. The XSP displays the WIFI signal strength on the notification bar differently from the SGS3. Eg. At -78dB on both sets (using "Wifi Analyser" app, SGS3 may show 3/4 bars, while XSP shows 1/4 bars.
  3. At a location in the house far away from the router, the XSP is unable to even ping the router, even though the icon shows that it's still connected to WIFI, albeit at 0/4 bars. The SGS3 is still able to ping and run speedtest without problems. Testing at this location was done with both phones on a plastic chair - when I picked up the XSP with one hand, WIFI totally dropped (icon disappeared).

So even after taking point 2 into consideration, the XSP's WIFI is definitely not as stable nor sensitive as the SGS3. It might be a problem depending on the size and stories of the house.

And becoz of point 2, let's use quantified values from WIFI analyser app if we want to compare numbers between different phones.

Thanks for the result, so they have really poor wifi range as what im saying.
Hopefully people will be aware of this matter and do not do the same mistake as we did.

I wish Sony could see this things and take appropriate action.

They are all totally blind and dont want to admit that they have issues like this.

What if (just a possibility) it's your router / wireless gateway having issues with the phone and not the phone itself ?

Has the phone connected and held connection to another wifi network before ?

Hi bro, tested with 2 different wifi, one in house and one in my office,
Please see also chongs test result,

So for people having XSP, go to Sony Service Center and ask them the wifi issue of your unit, later they will ask you to replace it by Xperia Z and top up by SGD200 only.LOL :s13:

Have a pleasant day!

Hi bro, just wondering what model you are using?

Can you compare the wifi signal with any other brand that might you have there while walking away from the router and see how the wifi signal performs?

Thanks.

xperia sp C5303?

Hmm unfortunately I can't test that and I don't know why my company router/ap is haha...

Re-contracted on 9/6/13 at pc show for 2 set of Sony Xperia SP, only manage to test at home. No major wifi issue with both set when i try the wifi at different area of the house, i still gets 2 bar out of 4 bar if it is within the house. My router is in Bedroom room which is nearest to the maindoor while my kitchen toilet is furthest, i can still get 2 bar signal there. Tried covering the phone it drop from 4 to 1 bar but we won't be covering our phone 3 sides while using so should not be an issue.

After i get the chance to test at free wifi hotspot i will update again.

Had a issue...the cover couldn't close properly like there's a gap in between cover and phone.

Turns out the SD card was not fully inserted thus causing the cover to leave a gap.

Once inserted fully, gap is gone. Yay !

that time they said no such policy for sony.
How? If they die die want mi send in for inspection?

That'd time took 22days for them to re-solve on software update.
How long they going to took tis time?

My holding on the phone less than 6days.

Maybe its high time to bang table..hard. Assuming it takes another 22 days, in total, your phone would have been under repair for 44 days or 1.5mths or about 10% of the warranty coverage. Are they gonna extend your warranty period?
