India also got price already.
Sony Xperia Z Ultra coming to India on July 31 - Mobile Phone | News | ThinkDigit

Indian e-commerce website Saholic lists the Xperia Z Ultra as an upcoming handset and mentions that it will be available by the end of the month. The Xperia Z Ultra is going to be the first device in the country that comes with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 800 SoC.
It has a 6.4-inch full-HD TRILUMINOS Display with the X-Reality engine in a shatterproof and scratch resistant housing.

It features a quad-core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 processor along with Adreno 330. Other hardware includes 2 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, an 8 MP camera at the back along with a 2 MP front shooter.

The device also features a 3,050 mAh battery and comes with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. This Xperia Z Ultra is dust-proof and water-resistant and is certified IP55 / IP58.

There are already a few 6-inch phablets in the Indian market today, like the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Huawei’s Ascend Mate.
While these two devices are targeting the mid-tier segment, it is clear that Sony’s offering will be aimed solely at the high-end market.

The Xperia Z Ultra is set to cost Rs. 45,000 ($760), which is slightly less than what it costs in Hong Kong ($800) and Taiwan ($900). With the imminent launch of this device, Sony has slashed prices of the Sony Xperia Z from Rs. 38,990($660) to Rs. 34,490($590) and the Xperia ZL from Rs. 33,990($575) to Rs. 29,490($500).

My view is that they intentionally incorporated a "watered-down" camera so that it wouldn't directly compete with the 20MP Honami.

Want a big screen? Buy the Xperia Z Ultra.
Want a good camera? Buy the 20MP Honami.

That said, they could have included a 13MP camera on the Xperia Z Ultra, just like the Xperia Z.

I would not think its a downgraded version. We know all Sony phones display different strengths.

ZU was made to cater those who like bigger screens and to write with stylus.
Honami was to be made with one of the best camera in smartphones.

Besides, honami is not yet ready for release. Pushing same camera to ZU will slow down its release date and same time release will steal limelight from honami.

So Singapore is going to get another Sony bypass again for launch? If they are launching in our market it should have already been announced like the other markets

If we are talking about just the camera and comparing it to the Xperia Z, then it's a downgrade.

And yes, that's my exact point: they won't have the same camera on both of the new phones, so that they won't compete with each other (i.e. different selling points).

The fact that Sony Mobile SG Facebook page is publishing news on the Xperia Z Ultra confirms that it'll be released in Singapore. But just like in the past, you won't know the exact release date in Singapore until almost 1 month to the release. Just wait for it patiently.

how can it be a downgrade if ultra, which is a product which is launching earlier than honami?

so, although honami is coming out with a better specs...then, at most it's considered that honami is an upgrade from ultra.

but seriously...the 2 are of different class of device. 1 is a phone/camera centric. the other is display/input centric.

From the onset they both had very different target market perceived by Sony.

However, that said, consumer usage pattern has changed since the days of Walkman-Phones and Camera-Phones. Sony really should not start segmenting the market again. Many people these days do not like having one thing or another. They like to have it all, which is one of the reason why Samsung has been so successful these last few years.

There was never any doubt if they will launch it here. The question has always been when. And yes, you are right about the one month before launch announcement.
