in the 1990s, i once used Hitachi ATMs that could sterilise bank notes…………if u dun believe can check lor………the neighbourhood provisions store owners won't accept dirty notes when i last lived there..

To be honest, I think it's a one off thing for that location you're staying in. I've checked with my wife (lived there all her life before marrying me) and she has never encountered such incidents before although she mentioned it might be possible if the shop owners are anal but it's not a common thing...

Yup, not easing for now...Next week can change S$1k more for me since going after Deepavali..

The Bank of Japan (BOJ) held off on further stimulus at its policy meeting on Friday, instead reiterating its pledge to increase its monetary base at an annual rate of 80 trillion yen ($660 billion).

Base money represents cash and deposits held by the central bank, which it expands by buying government bonds and risk assets.
The BOJ said that the decision was made in an eight-to-one vote.

2 weeks ago i change 2k at 11.84..S$1995.84 = 168k..As compared to the current rates of 11.65, i lose about JPY$3316 which works out to S$38.60..Not alot..
