The Japanese would like to see yen weaken but global events were against it.

The markets have responded well to the announcement of the stimulus. Whether it's sustained depend on how effective it is. This takes time.

Read in a poll 50% of respondents weren't confident of the latest measures working. Remember the number of stimulus and vast amounts of money thrown to revive the Japanese economy.

There could be continued weakness but don't think there's going to be large movement in either direction.

Just now mustafa 12.79.

I'm not monitoring all the times but 12.79 is the lowest I saw online.

Btw I just realise the tax free spending had changed to 5,000 yen since May 2016.
Instead of 10,001 for non consumed items & 5,001 for consumed items :)

Tax free spending for consummables (food?) is just show passport and they remove the tax charge or need to claim at airport like GST Refund?

Any logo for places that have the tax free for consummables?

Depends where you buy from. Some are tax free which is waived when you show your passport.

Others like isetan, have to pay vat first. Refund less admin charge will be at customer service.

Show passport. There's no claiming of tax refund in the airports. It's done in the mall or the shop on the spot. Yes, look out for a tax-free decal at the entrance. Could always head over to the customer service counter to check if there were more discount coupons for tourists and whenever you are not sure.
