For me I try to change minimum cash... will either use YouTrip or other multi currency cards... see which one got better promo for cashback or earn points...

Have been topping up YouTrip over the past 2 months when it keep dropping...

Change Alley or Marina Sq. Not as if I’m changing extra huge amount. But still would bring couple of thousands for two weeks.

Visiting temples/shrines and purchases of goshuin stamps/die-cuts need lots of change. Some restaurants are cash only.

Yes. My trip to Tokyo last Dec, encountered a few restaurants which insist on cash only.
