can anyone explain why negative i/r causes an increase in strength of yen?

Nothing to do with Negative i/r.

Most speculators just betting that BOJ not going to do anything in the mean time to fix the JPY with the upcoming G7 meeting to avoid being called out for currency manipulation.

Ch 8 reported earlier that Singapire travel agencies will raise Japan package tours 10-15% in view of rising Yen & high hotel demand due to visa free.
They say further rise is possible.

Noob here, for Yen is it the higher the better?

Will be going to arcade tmrw

2 ways to see it, lower the better if you're buying 1k yen denominations; in a sense you're paying lesser for the same 1K yen.

Higher the better if you're changing in terms of 1SGD, so meaning for every 1SGD you're getting more yen.

Generally money changers outside use the first case, so in that sense lower the better since you're paying lesser for the same 1k yen.

1 SGD to 80+++ yen = good times. I can't remember if it hit 90 b4

Just use XE & you know what are the best rate & dates of the best S$ vs Yen periods.
