When did you first have one, and what model was it?

Mine was an Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 (LGA 775), 2nd hand, bought for $60 or $70 in mid 2010. Managed to OC to 3.33 GHz with minimal Vcore increase. :)

I made the jump to a C2D E6600 dualie from a S754 3400+ Clawhammer. Before this jump, was mainly on AMD single core CPUs.

P4 775 3.2ghz HT.
Came in a Dell desktop with a passive heat sink sitting on top. Didn't had any problem heating up the whole room on a daily basis. :s13:

Pentium 4 640. Hot as hell.
Swapped to a D 820 and then a D 930. Felt no difference at all between the three CPUs - in fact there was this feeling that the 640 was actually faster in Cinema 4D rendering than the two D's lol.

P4 3.0GHz, Prescott the PresHot.

The system lasted until 2010 when I finally got tired of it (enough disposable cash to replace) and replaced it with a AMD PII X4 ------------------->

Single core + (almost useless) hyperthreading to a quad core (and better i/o) is like flying off the ground to heaven.
