ya lor.

damn ****ing hot and noisy sia.

machaim jet flying inside your case.
Or like sitting near a pasar malam power generator. :s22:
Singapore weather so hot already need room heater for what? :s22:

I jumped from a non-HT Pentium 4 directly to a quad core i5-750
1 core 1 thread --> 2 cores 4 threads.
Must have been a very big performance gain :)

Who here has used Pentium 4 Extreme Edition CPU as their first Hyper Threaded CPU? (Or Pentium Extreme Edition, the Pentium D CPU with dual core and Hyper Threading)?

That sounds bad. Summore Pentium D 820 only, what about ppl using Pentium D 830, 840 etc?

Wah, seldom see ppl use dual processor mobo. 2 cores 2 physical CPUs. Thanks for sharing.

Also a Prescott owner before.

pentium 4 530 Prescott then jumped to pentium D 830.

Both got so hot, i had to get a scythe ninja and install two fans on the tower cooler itself. I left some rubber bands on the CPU casing, they melted after a few days.

I thought my Prescott was noisy until I had the opportunity to enjoy a 92mm fan running at 6900 rpm to cool an AMD PII...

Thank god for 3rd party CPU coolers...

I found this video on a Pentium D 925 (3.0 GHz, Presler, 65 nm). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBxRXqOX_rQ

It's GHz rating is not the highest in the Pentium D range, and Presler (65 nm) produces less heat than Smithfield (90 nm). Yet after 5 min of Prime95 stress testing, the CPU fan was spinning very fast (possibly 100% RPM) and very noisy, and the CPU thermal throttled. :s22:

Northbridge not built into the CPU and no hyper-threading and the Pentium D CPU produces so much heat. :s22:

Core 2 Duo T8100......

Gotten it with my Sony VAIO CR just 3 days after specs was refreshed and updated. :D:o

Miraculously, this VAIO CR is going to celebrate its 6th anniversary between 28/02 and 01/03 (purchased on 29/02/2008) alive and healthy... :s12:

Interesting comments on the old dual core P4 Prescott processors.

The main heat producer nowadays are the GPUs. The only reason that they don't constantly "heat up the room" is that they clock down during Windows desktop use. When playing games, they're worse than the Prescott. Amidst the gaming excitment, it's hard to notice.
