Can I ask the YouTrip card is it able to use in most of the shop/restaurant in Taipei? Is there any admin fee charge for using it? If can use YouTrip card then I don’t bring so much cash there as the exchange rate is better using this card. Thank you

There is a admin charge for cash withdraw from taiwan ATM. Other than that, looks like no different to me.

The YouTrip card is a MasterCard credit card. So long as MasterCard is accepted at the shop or restaurant, it should be accepted.

I just used UTrip card to withdraw weeks ago from BOT ATM at the airport. Beside the $5 charge from uTrip, there is no withdrawal fee from the bank. Note, each withdrawal can only take NT$20k.

some shops only accept taiwan issued cards... not just youtrip... I think their card terminal is grey or green... I will always ask whether they accept overseas cards...

Taiwan is so predominantly a cash society. Bring cash with you, and maybe Trust card to withdraw cash from ATMs, as suggested by a forumer.

Most of the time still pay by cash, especially if you like to go to night markets, old street etc where you know there is a high possibility that the shops don't have cashless payment or have restriction.

Nowadays when going to Taiwan, the procedure is always change cash at their airport. Use Youtrip card for big amount items in those shops which I think it more trustworthy. If not, just draw cash from the ATM.

I have used Utrip(debit card) and Trust card (credit card) for Hotel, Starbuck and desert store, all no issue, but cash is always welcome that is correct.

Big establishments can use cc. Departmental stores, big hotels etc. But street food is cash only. Even youyou card not accepted in most nm. Haha. And everytime they receive a 1000 note, they will check if the note is genuine or not .haha.

If u eat and spend only in malls and hotels, by all means survive on cc is ok lor.
