is it possible to buy a esim but don't activate till like just before a trip, say 6 months later?

They have an image in this guide which states the expiry, so likely possible to have a 6 months later expiry but you better check with them

also, when buying, we need to select a country already or is it like an universal sim where it'll detect the local telco and auto-switch?

Dosen't seem to be like a universal SIM but anyways, they don't have the global bundle also like some other company does it.

Regional bundles - this then will auto switch provided you purchased the correct bundle for the location that your going to
