vega? seems to be right after RX500 cards
ur right, even though they are both gcn based, the video decode asic is actually different. while my vega igpu has already been upgraded to video core next asic for video decode, polaris is on its predecessor unified video decoder. if i could test it out with my 580 i woudnt have made that post, but sadly it has moved on :frown: based on the compatibility chart here, ur 570 does not support hw accelerated vp9 decode so that is why it is sw decode, where ur cpu is not fast enough for smooth playback.

another bro kena same problem a couple of years back:

When playing back 4K60 and 8K onwards, you can't depend on the CPU. Even if you have a good processor, it will still hog many resources.

Earlier today, I viewed the graph for Polaris 21, there was no VP9 column, and I thought it could have possibly been missed out.. but if you really want to confirm, use GPU-Z to check.

AMD Phenom II for 4K? :s22:
I still have one but is for testing and at the most can push 1080p.
For TS either have to play in 1080p or change GPU.

i use vlc to watch movies and drama it works under any format

stats here.... please help

Glad that VLC media player serve well for you. To play UHD video well, beside decent computer, reliable network server/ cables, router and optical modem are require. I mostly enjoy documentary videos (Drugs, prisons and Health related) with smart TV at comfort of living room at night. :)

There's nothing wrong with it, except the video is 30 fps which can look naturally laggy..

Playback a 4K60fps video and show the stats again
omg.. i did not sea that clearly that it was not a 60fps vid.... ok try again tonight

You can find a RX6600/RX6600XT in carousell for less than S$200. It support both VP9 and AV1 decoding.

I suggest rtx 3060 ti will be a good pairing with 5600.
Local price is around $600.
