He is not 30, he is going to be 40 in a few months time. He also mentioned that he reach 1m 5 years ago so 1m around 35. Maybe he got like 500k at 30 so don't compare the wrong number. You also must see which era are you from. If you are in your 50s then you are from a different generation where the same money have a different value.
No matter which generation, 0 is the same in all generation. =) :)

Same here. I started looking more closely at my CPF recently.

If there is a correction this year, CPF will form the bulk of the warchest I plan to deploy....
I can't include much CPF as I will be taking pension.. Pension is like CPF life annuity

The market is kinda supercharged. Ever since I started tracking liquid networth , it took 10 years to hit 1 million , another 7 years to hit the next one..now based on projection it could be less than 2 years
Everyone feeling wealthy from asset increase but at the same time, inflation is dampening such wealth effect too

I don't feel much impact from inflation maybe I don't have big ticket items to buy.. Grocery or eating out might have gone up double digit but they are tiny faction of your networth once you have millions saved up. So far, my dividend growth is also double digit and mitigate all these inflation

1m to 2m is 100%, 2m to 3m is 50% only. Make no sense for them to take the same duration.

I was hit badly in 2020 and 2022 .. portfolio can also take a nosedive. I know folks who have high allocation in S-reits still have not fully recovered ..liquid networth growth only flatline if only depend on active income

Singapore's consumer price index has been rigorously tabulated by the department of statistics for all to see.

Whether you think inflation is high or not depends on many factors, such as whether your income/assets can keep up, your consumption basket mix, your frame of mind, etc. With that said, Singapore's inflation is in general lower than other countries despite robust economic growth, partially due to the strengthening Singapore dollar making imports affordable.

Economist in general view the past 30 years as low inflation because of excess capacity and cheap outputs from China as the factory of the world. The next 30 years will be deflationary because of AI related productivity gains. It'll be a world of abundance.

Lol!

First month of the year has flown past. 3.95% in 1 month is a good start, and still managing to outperform S&P500. I will be happy with a high single digit return this year.

I did some back of the envelope calculations and find that if I pick only FRS and invest the difference between FRS and ERS and achieve 4%/year, I will outperformCPF Life payouts and furthermore on death, the entire principal sum is intact for distribution to beneficiaries.
How does it work? Put the other into a fund at age 55? Then by the time age 70, the returns better than ERS?

Not a bad start to the year.
Am thinking of liquidating a portion of my portfolio (sufficient to cover my remaining mortgages fully) and setting it aside in safe assets to safeguard my retirement, then use the rest of the portfolio (70%) to continue my investments with the same strategy that has worked fairly well in the past ~1 year.
