I am a professional out on my own. U can say business owner as mine is pte Ltd and employee as I am paid a salary by my company.
No. Don’t regret not buying more ppties
As mentioned my 1m ppty only giving 2.1kpm. And that’s not net, as have to deduct ppty tax, repairs, maintenance fees etc.
That’s very Low yield compared to my equities of about 5%, or about 2.5x more than my ppty net yield.
I doubt there would be much capital gains in the next couple of decades Most of the spectacular gains of the 70s to 90s most likely won’t be repeated, as Singapore has during that time transformed from 3rd world to 1st world and saw a very rapid phase of development and change. We see vast tracts of empty land in Sg then and Singapore river filled with tongkang and rubbish in the 70s and 80s. And now it’s very developed with high rise nearly everywhere. So I would stick to equities. That’s my personal view and I could well be wrong of course.

Parents helped me pay for my degree.
The rest I worked my way
Sometimes i hope that I got rich parents then no need to slog so much
Then again, looking back, I think luckily no rich parents, I am much more independent and hardworking prob this way
Must give credit to my Wife, for standing by my side when I was as poor as a church mouse more than 15yrs ago
Without her, also can’t have come this far

same here, parents paid for my studies
worked very hard and was super thrifty

saved over 60% of what i earned
was super lucky to had been an early investor in AEM

I fear of losing my capital
so I allocate most of my stock portfolio into reits and banks
quite similar to what dividendwarrior is doing

portfolio yield around 5%
so i getting around 30k+ per year in dividends

my annual salary + bonus is around 80k per year
so once my passive income reaches this level or more
I would plan to semi-retire, hopefully before 40

u missed out an impt factor... what is your age? I believe you must be quite young... if not, then all these wouldn't be impressive at all, it is mediocre at best.

Mediocre? Even if he is 40 or 50+, it is already considered decent and above average even if it may not be that impressive.

Instead of putting others down, why don't you share yours instead? Since yours probably would not be "mediocre" at all if you feel others' sharing are "mediocre".

Everyone just try their best. And then try to learn from others here so that they can do better in the future. It is futile to compare with others. There will be others who are worse and others who are better.

fyi i’m in my mid 30. it’s nothing impressive compared to the people out there. i’m happy to be able to achieve what i have now despite funding my own education and supporting my parents. i guess we are all taking baby steps towards financial freedom and to have positive net worth is a step nearer towards our goal. anyway we are here to share and encourage like minded people to achieve financial freedom. :)

sorry, I mean no offense. I'm looking at the non-cpf & non-property compoments (eg. cash, equities, endowment etc) and it is only 145k. Not putting down anyone, but if someone is in his 40s to 50+ and that's all he has, I don't think its wrong to use the word mediocre (a less harsh word to use is "so-so" or "average" if you really so stuck up with the word "mediocre"). 145k is really no big deal and it is insufficient for retirement. In fact I will worry about him that he will need to work beyond retirement age to sustain his lifestyle after 62/67.

Don't worry, you are doing good! The fact that you have such an amount in different component means you have starting saving and investment (with limited diversification tho)… you are already much much better than those who lives from hand to mouth and those who are in debt and needs to be placed under debt consolidation plan. End of the day there's no end to comparison... just do your best to be financially prudence, and you are doing yourself and your loved ones a good deed! :)
