U r insinuating that every condo (or majority of condo) is having 30-40% value within 3 years increase which is clearly not....it just seems you are naive and just reading from edmw on your property price news...

Go to srx once in awhile for god's sakes

Well...good for you then, I buy house to stay...if it increases in value. Great. But if it remains flatline, my life goes on.

Hope all the profit margin you gained can at least afford you some good online etiquette and English lessons...

OCR close the price gap with RCR and CCR.
That was something unexpected for someone not into property investing like me, but logically speaking, it is partly due to the MRT network extension announcements.

ABSD has distorted the whole SG property market. Prior to 2010, investors and foreigners only look at CCR.

Right now property prices mainly push up by HDB and EC upgraders.

5rm flat MOP easily fetch 700-900k and 20k combined income is also quite common for couples in late 30s.
So very easy for them to upgrade to 1.5-2M condo or even sell 1 buy 2 1.5M each

Apr numbers in SGD terms:
YTD networth excluding new inflows = 5.61%
YTD networth including new inflows = 6.72%

Networth 1-Jan-2023 = 1.228 million SGD
Networth 30-Apr-2023 = 1.317 million SGD

Equity allocation 53%

In Apr, just continued my automatic DCA of 6k into equities.

May numbers in SGD terms:
YTD networth excluding new inflows = 7.97%
YTD networth including new inflows = 10.59%

Networth 1-Jan-2023 = 1.228 million SGD
Networth 31-May-2023 = 1.374 million SGD

Equity allocation 61.63%

In May, I itchy hands bought 100k into China equity funds and already lost 4k in it lol.
But still may has been a good month for 3 reasons:
1)I received 14k annual bonus
2)SGD has dipped in May quite a lot, so it helps overseas equities valuation in SGD terms
3)US markets have done well :)

I thought your timing of China equity funds is more like value investing. So it may be better to just value invest in $100k in specific US sector ETF or metal ETF (Gold, silver, platinum, uranium) that indirectly benefit from China upside.

Even if China turns around, the upside may be very short due to US consumer spending being restricted in future and also permanent loss of US fund inflows. In a US recession, stocks in US may not drop that much, but China stocks will be punished.

I found a currency stronger than SGD: Mexican Peso (MXN)
Since the start of 2023: MXNSGD appreciated by 11%.

In just past week, MXN appreciated against SGD by 2%.

Since Covid bust in March 2020, MXNSGD has appreciated by a net 30%!

You could have converted all your savings to MXN and made 9% per year compounded since March 2020 without buying any stocks.

Ringgit is trash.
Depend on each individual situation, if you are a Msian working in Spore for SGD when you go back or retire back you need MYR for everyday items spending. That is why MYR although trash to you, for them is a necessity when they are back in their homeland. But I do agree with you MYR is trash which is why so many of them are in Spore working earning SGD.

Euro financials did badly this month. Half my cash flow goes to World ETFs already. Maybe I should just put everything into Vanguard World, but wheres the fun in that.... 😅

Hi..joining in.

42 this year. Single income, 2 kids.

2023 NW 2.65m
Equities (etf, shares, RSU, srs) 1038k
Cash 182k
FD & SG Tbill 475k
CPF 432k
Investment ppty paid up 524k

My goal is to work another 10-12 yr and retire at the 10m mark. Both kids should be in uni or working by then.

My weakness is not being disciplined with dca into ibkr, hence the huge cash position and “missing out” on this recent run up.

Comments, critique welcome please 🙏

if you have a choice between retiring now at 2.65m or in 10 years around age 55 with 10m, it makes more sense to work for10 years and retire after your kids start working and move out of your home:cool:

Not sure it was available in SG already but last week I noticed option of recurring investment on VWRA/IWDA/EIMI in IBKR and I set it up for 2 monthly buys 15 days apart (although I am using IBKR for 5+ years now, I never noticed this option earlier). With additional standing instruction for transfer from dbs to IBKR, I am all set. Very good for those who are busy with work and end up forgetting / delaying buys due to lack of time or due to fear coz of recent market movements

how did you set up for IBKR? So they also auto convert your SGD into USD and then use the USD to buy the nearest unit of ETF? Can you set what date/time for the USD and ETF buying?
