I would say your mistake was to continue hanging around when you had made almost 200% returns over a 2 yrs period. Many investors do the same mistake and give back their gains to the market.

All the best for the coming year.

Thanks all for the comments.

My equity portfolio now is considered long term. (Average holding period 1 year)
There are counters in my portfolio (sg dominated for a long time) that I have held a decade ago since inception.

I rebalance my holdings every month. I increase my us exposure heavily end of 2021 to first half of 2022. (Fomo) I got in late unfortunately.

Equities portfolio is up to 25% of my liquid assets.

Just calculated my numbers for Nov:

In SGD terms:
YTD networth excluding new inflows = -6.16%
YTD networth including new inflows = -0.28%

Not much progress in November in SGD terms because IWDA is up 4.83% this month but USDSGD is down 3.78% over the same period. I cut a lot of my high beta exposure like Asia and China stocks over the last 2 months, so didnt participate in the China/Asia markets bounce also.

So final tally for the year:

In SGD terms:
YTD networth excluding new inflows = -10.2%
YTD networth including new inflows = -3.85%

Networth 1-Jan-2022 = 1.277million SGD
Networth 31-Dec-2022 = 1.228 million SGD

My worst year ever. Hopefully 2023 will be better.
Happy new year guys!

Did not manage to break even this year, but consolation prize for outperforming Vanguard world by >10% 😅
More importantly, the amount of passive income I collected this year has increased. 📈 🏧 Will do the calculations next week when I have the time.

Net worth at the start of 2022 ~ 218k
Net worth at the end of 2022 ~ 270k

All excluding cpf. Hopefully one day, my portfolio can reach the standards of the ppl above me, where their fluctuations can be more than my current net worth :o
If you are in Money Mind you will definitely reach, well done and Happy New year 😊

Equity portfolio -19% for the year, change in networth excluding CPF but including primary residence (fully paid off) is -4%. Worst year since 2008.
