Any Yunnan expert? I thinking of doing about 9 days in Yunnan

Day 1 SG to Kunming
Day 2 Dali
Day 3 Dali
Day 4 Dali
Day 5 Lijiang
Day 6 Lijiang
Day 7 Lijiang
Day 8 Kunming
Day 9 Kunming and back to SG

Experts think this is ok? Better to get driver?

if you have flown on older boeing or airbus planes and felt ok, should be ok in lijiang. cabin pressurizations of older planes simulate similar elevations. it is the surrounding areas that are much higher elevations, especially going up jade dragon snow mountain. hard to predict who will get hit by mountain sickness, some very fit people got hit very badly, while some couch potatoes have no problems. lol.

Short train rides connect them all. For local excursions, you can consider getting a driver.

Looks fine, nice to spend more time in dali. I would go back there again. ** if going to JDSM, better take HA meds 48hrs b4 going up.

We had driver in Dali, Lijiang and Shangri-La. In Kunming, we got around using Didi.

You can buy oxygen can there for cheap at ancient towns there, but it is more of a placebo effect. The oxygen content in the cans are really low. I see people using them at Jade Dragon Snow Mountain only in Lijiang and Shangri-La (everywhere). It is more useful to take diamox. And drink plenty of water!

There is only 1st or 2nd class. I took 2nd class.

Payment by wechat pay or alipay. Cc not widely accepted (only shopping malls). Everyone accept wechatpay/alipay including street food vendors.

Hotels 3 star is enough. In Dali/Lijiang/Shangri-La I stayed at B&B/Homestay. Quite cheap and clean.

I got diamox from the doctor in sg. This is nit available over the counter.

few years back started as early as May. but just last year no of typhoon seems to have dwindled. though still reports of flooding in various parts of China

No need diamox since you are acclimatising from Dali to Lijiang. I once flew in direct to Lijiang and got a headache. Just eat aspirin and sleep.

July to Sep is the rainy season. Drizzling every day…

Start from Kuming (1892m) to Dali (1975m) ascend to LiJiang (2400m) to Shangri-la (3160m) , unlikely to have high altitude sickness as you aclimatize thru the trip. Truth or myth?

Change hotel 5 times. Kunming 1 hotel (1 night). Dali 1 hotel (2 nights). Lijiang 1 hotel (2 nights). Shangri-La 1 hotel (2 nights). Kunming 1 hotel (1 night). Wanted to book back same Kunming hotel on the last night but they were fully booked.

Not really. We had driver from Dali to Lijiang and Shangri-La (same driver, same van). We check in hotel before going sightseeing. Only problem is on the HST because space for big luggage is quite limited. But if you carry multiple shopping bags will be a problem.
