Leaving a one year old toddler (not sleeping) alone for a whole 10 min (likely even longer since 10 min was after the time he fell in) and by the pool no less......

"The State Coronor issued a gag order on the victim's identity..."

SG Journalism at its Best. "Today, something happened in Singapore. We don't know the details, but we just want to tell you, it did happen. A little boy drowned. The End."

Confidence for the afterlife. More drowning cases due to negligence from parents ahead... Let us take Singapore forward with all these f-ups together.
Thank you, you hor!?

There is actually quite a lot of details in the report starting with the SNAFU about the birth cert request.

So SCDF staff admitted the request was to prevent the over anxious father from interfering with the resuscitation and that the Doctor admitted that the delay would not have made a difference.

RIP to the young child nevertheless.

Family requested for gag order to protect their identity.

Their reputation is at stake, more so than having the public know their boy died (be it intentional or unintentional).

I would not know if they are suffering or not - that is an assumption and not a fact.
Maybe put yourself in the family shoes then you will understand.

Exactly - but that is irrelevant to the gag order issued, so I did not bother to bring that into this discussion.

Kid's dead anyway.

The family feels that the public knowledge of the kid's demise, would probably lead to major reputation and/or financial losses for their business empire (or whatever they have at stake).

So, that reputation/financial/monetary loss was greater (worth more) than the worth of the kid's young life.

This is where I draw the line as a parent. To make that sound/firm decision to protect their name more so than the kid's name.

Maybe put yourself in the family shoes then you will understand.

As explained above, Sir.

So what if you know the identity?

Reporting about such incidents is to create awareness so that 1 can learn from making the same mistake.

The family is already suffering and your post feels pretty negative.

1) You didn't answer my question - So what if you know the identity?

2) I would not know if their reputation is at stake, more so than having the public know their boy died (be it intentional or unintentional) - that is an assumption and not a fact.

Anyway, you have a very unique perspective towards this thread.

I'm not gonna reply you anymore about it.

So what if I know? Nothing. It will just be another piece of news to me.

I don't know them personally, and neither do you.

If the family values their name more than the life of the boy - such that a gag order can be issued - that is the smoking gun that their "reputation is at stake". It is not an assumption anymore. So why should we/YOU as outsiders even care then?

Yes I have a very unique perspective towards such news.
Would have been fine if it was reported in a normal manner. Only dumb sh|t people will gossip and gossip about the boy and point finger here and there at the family.

You're entitled to your opinions and so am I. So there.

Rich people but ignorant. Have private swimming pool and a 1 year old toddler, but never think about setting up barrier around the pool or send helper to watch over the kid.

How can you leave a young child unattended near a swimming pool

a lot of so-called landed house pools are just infinity lap pools squeezed into the side garden. open the patio door 2 steps out the pool is right there, doesn't take much for some kid to wander out of an open door and fall in
