I have both gomo 5g and xero1 4g on the same phone. Consistently Xero1 is faster! Planning to move to Xero1 soon.

Depend on what you use data for imo. Stream music and browse web no need, but 5g is better if you play game or stream video when outside.

Zero 1 users, what are the biggest pros and cons of using zero 1 telco service?
What type of issues have you encountered? What types of issues are recurring?

From my time with Zero1, severe speed throttling on MRT during peak hours

How about calls and sms? Able to receive them properly? Or massive delay?

Next, I am aware no volte, but is wifi calling supported?

Calls and sms no issue. No wifi calling based on my recollection.
I am getting both VOLTE and WiFi calling ( with home broadband only ) for RedOne

without volte n wifi calling, call quality is noticeably poorer?

I’m using the $7 Zero1 starter plan since July 2022 to present.

Pros:
  • One of the cheapest plans available under Singtel network for 6 GB data, 150 mins, 100 SMS.
  • Unlimited throttled data at 1 Mbps (is the highest if not one of the highest amongst all telcos) after exceeding data allocation. But I still wouldn’t use it for streaming video or using apps with a lot of multimedia.
  • Full fledged telco experience including free incoming SMS (OTP) when overseas and pay as you roam (for making emergency local calls and SMS when overseas). Note that Zero1 only allows locals get to enjoy this service, foreigners are excluded.

Cons:
  • Significant throttling of data speed when in very congested areas (example during peak period in MRT train), can drop until below 1 Mbps. However, I also used to experience this previously on GOMO 4G when I was on their plan from Nov 2019 to July 2022.
  • No VoLTE (all Singtel MVNOs are also excluded except GOMO). So your connection will drop to 3G when you’re on a call. Call quality wise I don’t find it too inferior or anything but if I were to nitpick it takes a few seconds longer for calls to get connected. Also since connection is on 3G if you need to surf internet while on a call the data speed will be slower.

I don't receive much calls usually. Wifi calling depends on your router and ISP too. For example, I can only get wifi calling at home but not at work on the same phone.

No. Only MyRepublic, M1 and some M1 MVNOs have eSIM.
All Singtel, Singtel MVNOs, StarHub, StarHub MVNOs (except for MyRepublic 5G plans) and SIMBA (formerly known as TPG) don't have eSIM.
