Have completed porting from singtel to zero1.

4/1/26: registered port over and purchased zero1 starter prime plan
5/1/26: collected sim card after received email that sim card was ready
6/1/26: activate sim card around 2pm
7/1/26: singtel lost signal at 12am, zero1 showed signal at 12.36am
7/1/26: late morning zero1 account showed usage details and completion of porting

Finally a good bye from high telecom bill.

Update: I didn't get charged

For SingTel and SingTel MVNOs (not including Gomo, not heya, not the new SingTel hi! Postpaid 4G plans)

1) Ignore the call is safer than rejecting the call.

2) Rejecting call will depend on the roaming network as per some websites.

a) 5G/4G data roaming and VoLTE: usually no charges

b) Without VoLTE and using legacy (CS FB) voice call, there will be charges.

I did not get charged when roaming in China when using SingTel SIM Only (roaming enabled in MySingtel app , data roaming disabled in the Mobile phone settings) and rejected one voice call. It seems to match the above conditions, as it was using China Mobile 5G network for roaming and with VoLTE.

3) For iPhone, you also need to disable the new live voicemail function and call screening function.

4) Because the roaming partners may have different network configurations, the FAQs from SingTel and the MVNOs may play safe and just say that you may get roaming voice charge even if you reject a voice call.

...

Minimum subscription :
Vivifi - 2 bills (2 months + any prorated part of a month)
Zero1 - 1 month+7 day's notice (b4 3pm) if that exceed the billing cycle, another month will be billed.
Zym - 2 months
dunno why even though it's "no contract" they still need customers to stay with them for at least a month. So it's not true "no contract" after all.

but thankfully some others are? like Starhub, and M1? although the latter has yet to bill me for porting out just two days after porting in..

I was travelling in Shanghai and Suzhou using data roaming with Zero1. Their partner is china unicorn and in Suzhou it was quite bad . Only 1 bar . Yes I can still get webpages to load albeit slow although showing 5G. Into malls I get 2 bars of network.

even though network was so bad , with a little patience , you can still get didi app to pinpoint location and successfully booked for trips . Perhaps 1-2mins wait for app to load properly but other than that ,20gb AP Roam is generous

Should try changing it to 4G to get better signal then.

Yes I did play with the settings . 4G and 5G Auto. Apparently 4g is 2 bars but equally slow loading . The 5G albeit 1 bar but load slightly faster. This happens in Suzhou . Shanghai got no issues

Actually you can try out China Mobile to see if it is better. Often it is better than China Unicom.

Gomo: China Mobile and China Unicom
Zym: China Unicom and China Telecom
Zero1: China Mobile and China Unicom
VIVIFI: China Unicom and China Telecom

I believe China Telecom roaming for SingTel MVNOs do not support VoLTE and 5G (same as SingTel). So China Telecom is the worst among the three roaming partners for China Roaming.

So in this aspect, Gomo and Zero1 have a bit of advantages as they support China Mobile, which is often better than the other two in China.

SingTel SIM Only supports all three.

VoLTE, or Voice over Long-Term Evolution, is a technology that enables high-quality voice calls and SMS over 4G LTE data networks, allowing users to simultaneously make calls and use high-speed internet, unlike older networks where calls would drop data. Key benefits include clearer HD audio, faster call setup, and better multitasking (e.g., browsing while calling) because the phone stays on the 4G network. It's built into modern smartphones and carriers' networks, with settings usually found under Mobile Networks in your phone's settings

From google less jargons :) Glad you enjoyed you trip!
