Just tried it out myself. It is indeed a pseudo dual active SIM phone which uses call forwarding. This feature can be activated under SIM Card Manager. Despite the use of call forwarding, this feature actually works as long as the telco supports it. Very clever of Samsung to make use of call forwarding. ;)

BTW, where did u read about the S5 Duos call forwarding feature? How can we determine if a call forwarding function was used instead?

No guarantees!!! As your phone has been rooted and gapps installed, OTA may not work properly even if u unroot your phone. In your case, follow the procedure mentioned above in post #402 .

1) Unroot
2) Download the FULL IMAGE file from Nubia website (700+ MB)
3) Apply update via SD card
.
.
.
My Z7 mini is actually not rooted or at least does not have proper root access. I think I only managed to get temporary root when installing gapps, losing it after reboot.

But I guess its better be safe!

Hi guys,

Just to find out, instead of rooting, is it possible to find the gmarket .apk and install directly and then start to update all the gapps via the gmarket? Is this feasible?

If the above works, does that mean we can do OTA upgrades?

you need to install the gapps into the protected system folder, thats why need root. so in short, need to root then can work.

Pretty good closeup shots from a camera phone. Did u snap the pics with an additional stick on lens or just the stock camera lens. I believe the Z7 mini and Z7 max should be the same. By itself, it can take some decent closeup shots. I was just comparing some indoor shots taken with the Z7 Max and the Samsung S5 duos. Even though the Samsung has a higher resolution, i was surprised to find that the Z7 Max captured more detail, better WB and colours. For indoor shots, the Z7 Max is much better than the S5!

What do you meant by pseudo dual active?
When you call forward SIM1 to SIM2, conditional or always? SIM1 will be charged for outgoing call right?

A true dual active SIM means both radios are independent and active. Samsung's pseudo dual active is actually a dual standby implementation, using call forwarding to overcome the shortcoming. Eg: If u are on a call (SIM1) and a call comes in at SIM2, the 2nd caller will get a busy tone for typical dual standby phones. For the S5 duos, instead of getting a busy tone for the 2nd caller, the call can be routed to SIM1 and u will hear an incoming tone. U can choose to put the 1st caller on hold and answer the 2nd call. Similar to what u would do with a call waiting service. As such, u will not miss a call to your SIM2 even if u are on the line with SIM1 and vice versa.
It can be conditional. U can set to forward calls on both SIMs or only on one of the 2 SIMs or dont forward the calls at all. If u do not use the forwarding feature, the S5 duos will behave like any other dual SIM standby phones.

Z7 max Sim 1 no working

I got new Z7Max, bought from CN. Unrooted. I got problems, sim 1 unable to detect any card(i try SH / ST / Digi). At the same time, sim 2 no issue for 4G after set APN. Any 1 facing same issue that sim 1 undetected? Aslo tried in CN, Sim1 input CM telcon, it works. Is sim 1 lock by cn telco ?

If it can't detect sim card at all, better pray it's not fault with the sim card slot.

without using a custom recovery, it is possible to install google apps if you are rooted. you can use Root Explorer and follow these steps:

Add Google Play without 3rd Party Recovery - Post #25 - XDA Forums

if you want the google apps, you can extract the apk files from the gapps package and copy them into the phone's System\App folder.

Thanks for the explanation !
