There is no need indeed, but restricting certain apps or hardware solely to its OS in the name of security and smooth operation is unscrupulous, monopoly and profit-reaping. But to each his own, it is a free world.

Well, u can dun use them. But if u do, they integrate very well with the other apple devices. And to keep their os secure from attacks, they have to lock up their infrastructure in one way or the other. I install bank apps in my iPhone only, because it it the most secure compare to android. I use both android and apple, windows and mac. Best of both worlds. There is no need to choose side.

But in general, iPhone itself is not price attractive. And certain important softwares is just not agreeable i think, especially Apple Music app/iTune, i just want my mp3 songs to be usuable across all platforms or any 3rd Parties sw and not must via Apple Music app.

Anyone done SIM replacement before? I did a sim replacement at Samsung Nex on 22 March and paid $10.90. Now my latest ZYM bill shows another $10 charged. ZYM WhatsApp is not responding since last night.

MP3 can be used across all platforms. Songs purchased on iTunes can be downloaded and used on all platforms, it's not DRM protected.

Exactly. Gmail can be used on both iOS and Android. Apple Music can be used on iOS and Android. iCloud email address and be accessed Windows Web browser. iCloud Drive can be accessed on Windows as well. Most mainstream apps (e.g Spotify, Netflix) are available on both platforms

No idea what "tying down" means. Easy to leave the eco system at any time.

Time has changed since 2009 (for DRM on purchased music), that was probably iPhone 3GS era.

For your requirements it's only available on mostly China phone that has all those physical features.

Update on my iMessage issue. Today their CS finally responded that their backend did something and ask me to reboot my device. Duly did so and activated almost immediately.

how do you get their cs to reply? their customer service is non existence. i whatsapp to 8090 0000 and there is no reply for almost 24 hrs. not even an auto reply.

Well, I just keep pinging this number on WA until they finally reply. I wanted to also terminate a line so maybe that helps to make them take notice.

Yeah it's not very common in SG compared to US. I personally use it to sync/forward messages from a couple of numbers across spare devices. So I can receive OTPs from just one device. iMessage also allows you to send pics in original resolution tho I'm sure there are other apps that can do that too.

Whatsapp can send pics in HD as well .. so long it works for individuals

Finally got my number ported to Zym and for the record the issues lies with Zym and not Eight. Zym has been the one putting in the wrong information for the number porting

What did you provide Zym to resolve the problem? I am facing porting issue to zym now.
