Hi users of AC88,

Am upgrading from the asus ac68 to ac88.

May I asked how do you guys transfer the settings from the 68 to 88? Or is this possible at all?

Is the configuration file saved from the 68 able to be loaded to the 88?

Or need to setup the 88 from scratch?

As have quite a number of Port forwarding and configuration.

You need to start from scratch. Uploading a config file from another model will only cause instability issues..

Just bought the RT-AC88U.

It was good for few days. Suddenly the 5ghz wifi connection starts to dropped very badly.

Did a factory reset, first few hours ok, then dropped again.

Speedtest shows 150-300mbps download, but can dropped to below 100mbps.
And I'm doing speedtest via wifi just next to the router.

I'm on 1gbps Starhub, direct lan to modem is good connection at 960mbps average.


As for 2.4ghz, its consistent connection but of cos its lower speed.

There's builds for AC88U by Brainslayer but not sure whether the latest builds are stable or not.

I thought Port 4 is Mio TV only? Just upgraded from RT87U to RT88U. Planning to use the RT87U on my second level as an access point.

Which router are u using? Asus routers port 3 and port 4 support singtel tv..

guys i am only getting 40mbps when i am right beside the ac88u (iphone here 2.4ghz)

something is wrong, did a reset via the UI and have changed to the best channel avaliable..

any advise?

Why not use 5ghz for faster speed ? Range limitation ?
Anyway, maybe try forcing router to run 2.4ghz @ 40 mhz and see if it improves the speed.

i give up on my weak 2.4 Band issue only 30-40mbps even when i am near the router.

my old N56U, is able to hit at least 70mbps..


if anyone knows what is the problem or has the same issue as me, do drop me a PM.

even my old N56 performs better over the ac88u, money wasted i guess

I only see this when I persistently do large file transfer leh.. usually if I got multiple lan devices and multiple wireless going, I'll see about 30% on ac5300.. how come urs so special? Hahas

For this router, can we create our own password for the wps key or have to use the wps key provided by the manufacturer.
