Today's workout

Squat 130 8x5
Pull up 8x5
Bench 100 4x5,4

Just missed 5x5 for bench by one rep! But was really pooped by what is probably a volume pr for squat.

Coincidentally, ferocity had knee sleeves new stock, so I treated myself to a pair of sbd... no pain at all and my knees felt so nice warm and toasty! Very happy!

Heavy day

Squat 145 5x3
Bench 110 3x3
Deadlift 155 two singles

Happy with my squat, but I think my cns burned out after.... couldn't hit my bench target of five sets, and the deadlifts were a total wipe out. It's been a stressful few days at work and home too, so I'm going to lay off training for the rest of the week and start again on Monday....

Today is heavy day

Squat 140 5x5
Bench 105 3x5
Paused deadlifts 75 5x5

Today was oF those days where you've had a bad week at work, go to the gym feeling like crap, but then absolutely kill the workout. 5 rep PR for both squat and bench, and multiple sets . Two months ago I would never had the confidence to do a 5x5 at 3pps. More than makes up for the past week of working till nearly midnight every day...

Interestingly, I just read some research that indicates that certain short term discomfort and negative arousal could enhance performance. Like when a athlete couldn't get a good night sleep before a competition because his CNS is too aroused relative to baseline, yet go up and break records.

Scientists couldn't agree on how much and how long your discomfort needs to be before the record breaking efforts but they all generally agree that a certain amount of negative stimulus is proven to enhance short term performance.

That's likely what you just experienced :)
