Just to share a great place for monitor repairs (BTW I'm not affiliated in any way):

My Dell U2713H suddenly died on me, no power all of a sudden. Suspected blown caps, Googled and found this place called DQ Technology.

Sent it in, and the boss opened up on the spot. Capacitors looked OK. Traced the circuitry, and found a blown(?) resistor. Things got suspicious, resistors don't blow for no reason. Did further tracing, saw the resistor was linked to the power IC, and suspected that chip was faulty. Really friendly too - took time to explain the problem, and I got a quick refresher in electrical circuits.

Left my set there, and few hours later, received a SMS indicating that its repaired (power IC replaced).

Rare to see such repair services nowadays - he used to be designing CRT monitors for the local PC manufacturers. Apparently he has experience repairing Apple PSUs as well. Service will come with a 1 mth in house warranty.

Why do you need to repair the monitor? It is not worthwhile in my opinion. Just get a new one instead. :)

Don't want to set any precedence in terms of pricing (as not all repairs are equal), but let's say it was very reasonable for the effort done. PMed you.

Again, not all monitors are cheap ones. Mine was a wide gamut monitor, a new one would have cost 800-900 bucks. And the repair cost wasn't expensive.

just to update, I smsed bearusdamhu last week to check if he still repairs monitors and TVs.

unfortunately, he says that he doesnt do it anymore. I asked him to share with me if he knows of anyone who can do it.

its a pity. cos when I used his services, he was good and cheap which was a rarity. it only cost me $30 + $30 to repair my Sharp TV and Samsung monitor by him.

to repair one costs at least 100 bucks nowadays. and after repairing, my TV and monitor is still running for yearssss

pity.

Sent in my Dell U3011 for repair today. Quick recovery within 1 hour and managed to revive my monitor at a very reasonable price.

Thumbs up to fellow HWZer SNAG for sharing :D
