The Russian 4S runs official Android TV OS, like Mi Box S, with the Exception of no Netflix HD support. The Play Store for Android TV OS has limited apps.

You can side load apps like ES File Explorer to access Network Shared folder. Apps like VLC from the Play Store can access Network shared folder as well for media playing.

As for Browser, you can side load FireFox and even Chrome if you want. But if your intention is only to download apps from a website, you can use Downloader from the Play Store.

Some people like Puffin TV Browser.

Hi,

Thanks for the info. I use side load for chrome, but i could not find it in the apps list.
Only able to find it in the system list which is so inconvenient, is there anyway i can create a short cut and add it into the favorite list for easy access?

Ahh I see. Which models of the MiTV that are able to play HDR contents? I’m using MiTV 4A 50”

Think only their latest MiTV5 Pro with QLED panel has HDR+. This time Xiaomi never have such "support" qualification in their brochures. They still never specify brightness level

Most MiTV just have HDR decoders that can play HDR contents but could not display the content in HDR colour on the LED panel.

you better double check just to be sure.

Ok guys, finally got Netflix 4k working on my Mi Box S paired with Mi TV 4S (Global). Yay!

Should have listened to my own advice above lol.

The "Enhanced HDMI setting" is only available when you press the center button of the Mi TV remote when you are in the HDMI input of the Mi Box S. It will show greyed out otherwise.

Once i turned on HDMI enhanced, i was able to see 4k 60z under resolution settings.

As bro whoooo mentioned above however, whether the HDMI range is set to full or auto, has no effect on my 4k. In fact i prefer the colours when it is set to auto, setting it to full, looks abit washed out (my opinion).

Final couple of questions if anyone can help:

1) I realised after changing the resolution to 4k 60hz, i lost the option for 10 bit colour. Now only 444 8bit and 420 8bit. Not that it matters but should i choose 444 or 420? And does anyone know why the 10bit option disappeared?

2) Mi Box S is still screen flashing randomly (usually before the autoplay of preview) but works flawlessly once the video is playing. Does anyone know how to fix this? Saw another bro facing the same problem above.

3) Test pattern works great - showing 4k resolution now. But i see some titles in HDR and some titles in 4k Ultra HD (far less titles in 4k though) - is this normal?

Thanks all for the help! Been a tiring past few days but finally got 4k to show in Netflix for Mi Box S + Mi TV 4S combo!

Got a HDMI cable on the way but cost me $2.22 (Amazon Basic cable) so nothing much lost.

P.S. Honestly can't tell the difference between 4k and HDR but since bought a 4k TV, feels good that Netflix is able to show "4k Ultra HD". w00ts!

Thank you for the fix. :)

Manage to get 4k 60hz on the TV for gaming/PC.
Really a good buy @ $266 for a 43 inch TV.
Next will try on the Mi box S.

Anyway anyone know how to change the dual sound for Channel U from korean to Chinese? Thanks.

As mentioned in previous reply, Netflix puts higher priority on HDR than 4k in terms of status display.

4k HDR -- display HDR
4k no HDR -- display 4K
1080p HDR -- display HDR (not so common in terms of contents).
1080p no HDR -- display HD (?)

So the only problem is whether it is 4k HDR or 1080p HDR. I think you can try disable HDR on Mi Box S and Mi TV to see if it will display 4k or not.

Ok noted, thanks! Since it shows 4K Ultra HD now all should be good to go. Can't really tell the difference but at least 4k TV is showing 4k and not just FHD! Haha!

You can try other TV to see if that still happens or not. If that works, then the issue is more with Mi TV.

Or you can try the following to debug the issue.
1) Use Ethernet connection
2) Set Mi Box S output resolution to 1080p to see if the issues go away.
3) Set Mi Box S output to 4k 30fps to see if the issues go away.

If one of the above works, the issue may be more towards the Mi Box S side.

1) Not during streaming, that's perfect, only browsing between video thumbnails, shouldn't be ethernet. Speed test at 100mbps as well.

2) Yes any resolution also flicker.

3) As above, resolution doesn't matter.

Mi Box works fine on other TVs. Mi TV without Mi Box also works fine, only when the 2 combine then got issue lol.

Might be a bug or setting issue as bro MichaelScott faced the same issue. Might just do a clean format later and see how. Not bothering me too much.

OMG thank you bro!!! We are finally free from this ********. Nearly went down today to get my mi box S LOL. Time to enjoy my TV now :)

Anyway I forgot how I got the flickering issue to stop. I just started configuring my mi box S according to the skyjuiceiswater blog post and it somehow stops.

Sent from OnePlus HD1900 using GAGT

Sure no problem bro, enjoy!

Will read through the blog later again and try some settings.

P.S. Anyone able to sideload Netflix on the Mi TV Global A55 set yet though? I was able to run and install Amazon Prime through Aptoide. Mi TV comes with YouTube already. If only able to run Netflix problem free, then i can get rid of the Mi Box S. :s12:

I got the same xiaomi TV 55inch during 12/12 flash deal also 499 from same seller on lazada.
The delivery actually came after 4 days. Which I felt was acceptable delivery time frame.
I don’t think it will take 40-45 days.
That time I order also states that long, I believe is lazada system force them to state longer, but usually is comes much earlier based on my experience.
Anyway the TV resolution is 4K, Full English, got google playstore, youtube all inside and also seller gave a free digital antenna.
Felt it was a great deal at $499.

Delivery date Feb 2020.. Abit far le
