Roborock has no vacuum only mode function. Mopping is disabled by removing the mop plate, not the tank. A magnet on the mop plate that activate mopping.
When you press the start button on the vac body, it will start or stop clean.
Mihome does not have S6MV added yet, so you should start with Roborock app, to keep the firmware up, then do the needed virtual barrier and no mop zone. Set the room and vac power, wetness per room if needed. Once saved, these setting will always be there regardless start by app or button.

My wife heard from her friend that you must remove water tank else the machine will keep suckling water tank without water and it will heat up. May i know if she is correct?

You need to be specific on the brand and model as various brands use different tech to extract water. It you leave any pump running, whether air or water running, it does consume lifespan. For S5M, S6M, Ecovacs Ozmo system all uses peristaltic pump and water and motor are not in close proximity but friction of the pulley on the silicon pipe will wear out the tube with more usage. As such water does little effect to the motor. While those with external separate vac and mop tank will be self explained. Model which uses diaphragm pump are very tiny (2 inch) and low volume, the wear impact is minimal. Air pump model are rather immune to all these but less accurate to control.
In short use on need basis will prolong parts. Now I did mention multiple times that mopping are activated by tray magnet and not water tank, so removing tray will disable the motor (however user should avoid doing so in mid run in case the software plays tantrums and not disable, and you ended up with a trail of water). So if user want to do dry mopping with floor tissue on S5M and equivalent, it will be easier to buy another tray (oem will do) and pry out the magnet. I have a past posting on how to velcro a plate for floor tissue.
Old S5, S6 has not pump, so you can leave it as long as you like.

Thanks for the heads up, shall go find reliable taobao sellers.

It has been a while for this post but I also need to find accessories for Hydra s7 (also compatible with Viomi V2 and V3), anyone has any good stores (local or taobao) to recommend?

Hi,

I had used robovac since first few edition of Roomba then switch to LG roboking in 2014 but sold the roboking in 2018 and never use any robovac since then.

My main issue with robovac back then is there is no easy way to block the robovac from entering certain area and I need to do quite a bit of setup before letting it loose.
Hence, decided to stop using.

A few days ago, saw the flash sale of roborock in Shopee and since I never heard of roborock previously, I read into it and surprise to see the advancement made since I last use robovac.

Now, I'm itchy to get one :s13:

Quick questions for those using Roborock S6 MAXV :

1. Does the object avoidance feature result in it turning away from things too early resulting in borders of unclean areas around the things - e.g. wall, chair's leg, etc ? Or it will only detect and do this on pre-defined items like shoes, scales, etc ?

2. Due to the concern of #1, I'm considering S5 Max also.

Thanks!

Hi, I only used the XM gen 1 robot before and a noob to robovacs. The set up was a breeze, charged it up a bit and started a vac. Played with the app and was able to set the virtual walls so that it will not suicide on me like my XM gen 1, fell down the stairs likely because I did not clean the sensors. App is intuitive and easy to use.
Took about an hour to clean 53sqm, Was watching Netflix while it worked, not bordered by the noise and I find it acceptable and softer than my old bot.
As I only need to vac, so I did not attach the mop cloth bracket and the app knows and does not allow me to set the wetness (clever). Comes with 1 extra help filter and a wireless headphones.
Set it up to vac alternate days at a certain time. I am happy with the buy.

Please give a review when you received it.
Where to buy the S6 max V accessories?

My S6 maxv is fully charged and to prolong battery life, I have turned off the docking charger. However, s6mv still has the power flashing. How to turn it off completely?

Yes, early versions of robovac are expensive and less sophisticated. And local available models are 2-3 years behind origin countries back then as demand were not popular and online purchases and shipping are difficult.

YouTube is your friend, there are many end user demos and intro, thus you can see it yourself. However, different home design, dark flat furniture material may influence interpretation.

U mean the robot or the dock? The robot and the dock both got led lights..but after fully charged both are switched off.. The dock one off after robot dock.. Inside app can set led off after fully charged.

You should be able turn off the bot by long pressing the start button, this is standard across Roborock. However I doubt the year 2005 concept of battery lifespan applies to year 2019 lithium battery. Just like a 2 ticks aircon vs 4-5 ticks

Still using gen 1, still working good after 4 years, once or twice per week. Power still as good of filter and brush is maintained well. Only miss the no-go zone of the newer generation

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

Trust me, whenever I research a gadget, I include all possible web friends (google, youtube, reddit, forums, etc), including youtube. I think I have watched all youtube videos related to roborock.

But it's still not clear whether the new object detection feature will result in less well cleaned areas around an object. So far the videos I saw mostly revolve around testing with the common objects like shoes, cables, etc.

Hence, I though to get the words of real-world users here, especially in Singapore - HDB, etc.
