The whole idea is to let training providers earn these bs course fees now.
Attend training course ≠ get a job

his mum is 64 years old. Only got N level qualification. She go to the government career centre ask them help her look for job.

They tell her to use the $500 government money to go for IT skills upgrading such as how to use tablet, smartphone etc because now the technology is changing very fast.

I told him his mum got cheated liao. All these career coaches will tell 99 percent of people who approach them to go for skills upgrading, after that they will not be able to find job de.

He say he knows, but his 64 years old mum still daydreaming that she can find office admin job. Her health also not good so she cannot do those retail, waitress, security guard jobs etc that needs to stand and walk

He cannot tell her the truth that is she cannot find office job de because she will scream at him say he look down on her.

Why government so evil want to give sinkees false hope?

She need to retire la...

Yeah, has the government ever produced statistics for 4D winners? No right? Then why so many ppl still q up and buy?

The real reason why ppl are so against training is they are damm lazy. That's the real reason.

Has the government ever produced any statistics showing that the skillsfuture scheme helped jobseekers?

It's very easy to point out that actions are being taken. Whether the problems have been addressed is a different matter.

TS should just pay his mum $5000 a month a retires her. Why let her suffer at age of 64 unless she's mentally and physically fit to go for it.

If TS cannot take care of his mum, why blame the government?

Yes, wheelchair-bound people are lazy to walk.

This logic/analogy is flawed in so many ways. For one, gambling on 4D has negative expected returns for customers. If it is the same for Skillsfuture, then people should certainly complain.

Formal training schemes such as Skillsfuture might work (or at least do no harm) for cases of people switching industry, into entry level positions.

What proportion of jobseekers fall into this category though? The problem is when solutions like these are prescribed as SOP without regard for the root cause or efficacy. For the lack of a better term, it reeks of wayang and nothing more. Don't forget that these trainings and stuff don't grow on trees. They are paid for by taxpayer's money.

Learning basic IT skills will not get you a job. You need to go specialised course and self learn. The government is nonsensical, they gave you 500 to keep afloat education centres.

I knew an old school cleaner and she was sent to go upskilling, she had 6 upskill certificates and she is still a school cleaner. How many certificates do you need to be a school cleaner? A general security guard?

I'm arguing on the mindset of people that they want guarantee jobs after training. So I take the analogy of buying 4D.

The skillsfutue system has good intentions in its conception. But ppl expect more than what it or reality of life can offer.

And of coz, when ppl go for training, choose the courses wisely. Not every course is useful for their development or even finding job. There are definitely good courses available, depending on the different industries requirements

This logic/analogy is flawed in so many ways. For one, gambling on 4D has negative expected returns for customers. If it is the same for Skillsfuture, then people should certainly complain.
