Decline the invitation. Don't let the hotel earn.

A wedding banquet is a joyous occasion where and when the bride and groom celebrate their marital union which as we may rightfully believe *follows* their sexual union.

As such, they decided to invite anything which moves, be it an old JC friend, an army friend, or the bride's colleague who just joined the company she works at, last week.

But never mind. It is a joyous event, and you just go and jiak ahhhh! If there is beer, DRINK to your heart's content!

The ang pow is symbolic. It is in red paper which symbolises luck. Good luck, I mean. Not bad luck. The groom needs it because without good luck, he will become another Women's Charter statistic.

It does not really matter how much you put inside. Even $2 is fine because it is not the amount of money but the colour of the ang pow paper which matters. If you give too much, then you are not invited; rather, you BOUGHT a seat to eat.

However, if you are giving white gold (pek kim), then the amount you donate is according to your means. The whole idea is to help the bereaved family, a practice which has its origin at a time when we were very poor.

In the case of marriages, there is not need to give ang pow like you are giving pek kim.

100 to 200 depending on how close and how much you can give. If close relative it could be more......
