It is not possible with Singtel 2Gbps plan. For 2Gbps plan, the main router will be the ONR, and it can not be bridged by defintion of the 2Gbps plan.

Unfortunately more and more people will sign this Singtel 2Gbps plan and realize this issue due to the push from Singtel side.

Once you are using the Singtel ONR (unbridged), there is really no point to buy routers like GT-AX6000 with powerful CPU since you can really only use the Asus router as AP in order to avoid Double NAT; or you may be able to live with Double NAT (if you set up the Asus in router mode) if you are only browsing the internet and consume video streaming.

2Gbps really very good to sell.

Most consumer hear 2Gbps, think it is faster liao. No need to explain more. Price it just a little bit higher than 1Gbps. Consumer mind thinking.....value for money for 2x 1G speed at less than 2x 1G price, most will bite.

Recently more and more ST subscriber came here to post after getting the ONR for 2Gbps.

Hope more check out the forum before signing up.

Thanks for your knowledge bro. Quite sad to hear that but already sign up liao so no choice. Lucky my gaming pc is direct LAN so i guess it wouldnt affect me gaming. I am on double NAT now for my living & master therefore decided to sign up for this singtel set.

Yes you may have to go with Double NAT (by setting the GT-AX6000 in router mode to have more features than AP mode) in this case since you already sign up the 2Gbps plan and buy the GT-AX6000.

You may have to connect your gaming PC to the LAN port of the GT-AX6000 and not Singtel ONR if you want to try to leverage the gaming feature of the GT-AX6000. Not so sure if the gaming feature still works under Double NAT or not as I am not into gaming at all. And it might depend on the game as well.

And take note if you have Double NAT, the devices connect to the Singtel ONR directly may not be able to see the devices connect to the GT-AX6000.

I'm thinking of getting the GT AX-6000 as my main router and switch my RT-AC86U as an access point or recontracting next month to get another AC86U as an AP.

Currently on singtel with gaming plan 1+1Gbps.

I have the Nokia ONR currently. How can I tell if the ONR has been bridged?
I vaguely recall instructing the network guy who came to install for me to switch my ONR to ONT but can't be sure. Is there any way to check?

For 1+1 the ONR is already bridged. Port 4 is bridged. Port 1 to 3 are not bridged. No actions needes from your side.

The improvement from RT-AX86U (your RT-AC86U is a typo) to GT-AX6000 is actually limited. You can just recontract and get another free RT-AX86U as the AImesh node.

So even if I were to recontract to the 1Gbps plan, if the ONR remains, shouldn't have any issue right?

Yes that is correct. The ONR is compatible with SingTel 1Gbps, 2Gbps and 1+1 Gamer plan. SingTel will push different configuration from their backend.

You do not need to do anything if you recontract the existing 1+1 Gbps plan.

But once you recontract to the lower 1Gbps plan, the bridged port will be gone -- reverted to unbridged port. Some of the functions of your RT-AX86U will be gone as well. Same problem if you change to 2Gbps plan.

Sorry, one last question.. I should be plugging into the 2.5G WAN port instead of the normal WAN port since I’m on 1+1 gbps plan? Would it make any difference?

No. The 2.5G port is better configured as LAN to connect to your 2.5G enabled devices like NAS if you have. It is totally wasted if you configure it as WAN port.

BTW, I have edited my answer to your previous questions about the ONR if you recontract to the lower 1Gbps plan.

Asus will come out with the RT-AX86U Pro and GT-AX11000 Pro modles with faster CPU and maybe more features.

1) RT-AX86U Pro: faster BCM4912 CPU (like GT-AX6000 and Zenwifi XT12), 2.5Gbe, supports Wireguard server/client and various improvements to Parental Control.

2) GT-AX11000 Pro: faster BCM4912 CPU (like GT-AX6000 and Zenwifi XT12), 10Gbe + 2.5 Gbe, supports Wireguard server/client and various improvements to Parental Control

What if I recontract to the 1Gps gamer plan? I want to try out AiMesh by adding another AX-86U to my existing network and rid off my deco M3.

My current AX-86U is in the middle of my living room but when I'm in my bedroom with door closed, I'm getting dropped zoom calls and weak wifi signals.

I do not have my home wired up so the 2nd AX-86U will be setup as an AP with wireless backhaul. Would this setup improve my network?

Also, would the AP router have a separate SSID?

2nd AX86U will definitely improve the range/coverage. Most ideally placed midway with clear line of sight between the 1st router and your bedroom if your goal is to improve your bedroom's coverage.
Do note that the 2nd AX86U will be using half the bandwidth to relay data to/fro, but you should be experiencing better speeds in the bedroom.
SSID would be the same when it is setup as AiMesh

No use. Once you are back to 1Gbps plan, the ONR will revert to unbridged. So better not to do that.

The other choice is to switch to M1 and get the GT-AX6000 (which is a bit better in terms of HW spec than RT-AX86U).

Like you, I’ve used M1 before and have encountered several issues with them. Even for StarHub and so far, singtel has served me best for reliability.
The GT- AX6000 is only available with the 1Gpbs plan with top up and not available with the 1Gbps game plan?

If I were to get the GT-AX6000 and use it as my main router, the AX86U as my wireless AP via AiMesh, would it suffice? Or should I connect via ethernet (power line) to the AP to get better speeds?

If you prefer to stay with Singtel, I think it is better you keep with Singtel 1+1Gamer plan.

For M1, if you subscribe to the M1 Gamer Pro 1Gbps plan, you actually get the pretty good free TUF AX5400. In that case, you can use the RT-AX86U as the main router and the TUF AX5400 as mesh node. No need to get GT-AX6000 already. You can follow the advice from @cyberet to play it in a good location. In that case, even though it is using dual band wireless backhaul (5GHz backhaul: 4x4 AX160 MHz, up to 4800Mbps; shared between wireless backhaul and wireless clients), it will be good enough. No point using slow Powerline as the middle man.

Just curious, how would you normally set up the 1+1Gbps?
This is my current setup:

ONR Port 1 --> AX86U Port 1
AX86U Port 2 --> PS5
AX86U Port 3 --> TP Link M3 deco
AX86U Port 4 --> Sonos speaker

Just wondering I'm fully utilising the 1+1 option?

No you are only using 1Gbps in this case. And you are using the wrong port to connect to the RT-AX86U

Option 1: two separate networks, move your TP-Link M3 Deco to another port of ONR.

ONR Port 1 (unbridged port) -- TP Link M3 deco
ONR Port 4 (bridged port) --> AX86U WAN Port
AX86U LAN Port 1 -->
AX86U LAN Port 2 --> PS5
AX86U LAN Port 3 --> Sonos speaker
AX86U LAN Port 4 -->

Option 2: single networks, dual WAN load balancing.

ONR Port 1 (unbridged port) -- AX86U WAN2 Port (set to LAN1)
ONR Port 4 (bridged port) --> AX86U WAN Port
AX86U LAN Port 2 --> PS5
AX86U LAN Port 3 --> TP Link M3 deco
AX86U LAN Port 4 --> Sonos speaker
