Amex really becoming mass market. They will probably give it to almost anyone who qualifies for a CC income wise now just so they can collect more card fees.
Well, the $1728 annual fee is still a pretty big barrier. I can’t imagine that majority of ppl under a 6-digit income would be comfortable paying that.

On what basis?

Ymmv but over the last 2 years I feel that the privileges have gradually been cut, both in terms of quantity (less partners on Love Dining) and quality (lousier replacements, no Platinum affair). The new set of vouchers that come with the Platinum Charge are quite poor compared to the previous iteration as well.

I guess you could partially attribute it to covid but the general feel is that being a Platinum member has lost its sheen somewhat. Perhaps they are no longer able to offer these profitably and as a result are looking to opening the "club" up to new blood so long as they are willing to pay the cost of admission.

There was that guy previously who was dead set on getting one to show he'd made it in life :o
Why is it that it can't be a reason for someone to get that card. I mean it was exclusive then and still is. At this point, is all heresay of people getting this card below a certain income requirement. I still believe having this card is still a show of status that you have met another milestone in life.

This world got a lot of different people so why not

but this card is more for lifestyle than really a good miles card though. So why looking at this for >30k spend?

But isn’t that exactly the point for some cards that aren’t so attractive on ongoing basis?
