Hi, i'm using wireless between the 2 mesh nodes.
Sure, i will get an ethernet cable to test out the speed and revert back.
But if i get a new router will the speed be faster?

Yes if you have the better wireless device, say Wifi 6 enabled device.

Good wifi 5 router with good wifi 5 2*2 AC 80MHz device, at close range: 500-600 Mbps

Average AX3000/AX5400 Wifi 6 router with average 2*2 AX 160MHz device (eg: cheap Intel AX200 adapter), at close range: 600-800Mbps or even higher

S$49.90 is the right price (or maybe a bit higher now due to GST increase this year) for out of contract old 1Gbps plan (usually S$39.90 per month within contract and then S$49.90 per month out of contract).

As mentioned by a few others in recent reports, the current recontract offer you can get from Singtel is at S$40.40 per month with free Wifi 6 router/AP (Airties 4960R router for ONT user, Askey Wifi 6 mesh node for ONR user).

For reontract done through WhatsApp, the contract will be attached in the WhatsApp chat, and it will be sent by email as well.

You can continue using your ZTE ONT. Just in case if they ask you if you want to upgrade to ONR, reject such "offer".

For the free router, you will have to collect from +SERV Orchard Central.

but still looking to replace my router since it's super old already. do u have any recommendations? if i buy one from carousell will it work? any model i should look out for?

Yes your number is about right. Wired speed is slighly on the lower side (usually it should be close to 900Mbps).

As for new routers, it depends on your budget. For low budget, TP-Link Archer AX72 (AX5400) is a good one from Carousell. It is dumped by the M1 users and you can get BNIB unit below S$100 (as low as S$80). It has decent Wireless performance. For high budget, Asus GT-AX6000 (AX6000) is a top AX router and again you can get BNIB unit from Carousell at around S$450, again it is dumped by M1 users. And there are many other choices in between.

I assume you are using Singtel ONT (and not ONR), in that case, you need to set up VLAN profile. The following link is for TP-Link Archer AX72.

Yes, i'm using ONT.

Thank you so much for the advice and recommendations! Will search carousell for the recommended models.

Will come back if I have any further questions:)

What are the testing device? What is the previous router?

If you test with a Wifi 5 device, the speed may not increase.

old router

using iphone

Which iPhone? Older iPhones do not support Wifi 6 but they are usually 2 x 2 AC device (usually 2 x 2 AC 80MHz device), with theoretical max speed at 867Mbps.

The old router is Singtel AC Elite (AC1900). The new router is Linksys E9450 (AX5400). So for sure the new router has better wireless specification. But in this case, iPhone is most likely the limiting factor.

Newer iPhones do support Wifi 6 (2 * 2 AX 80 MHz). They are still lagging behind as many Android phones support 2 * 2 AX 160 MHz.

so after changing....no wifi
apologies if sounds noob lol

I see. Then that's a different story.

Please follow the guide here to set up the Linksys.

BTW, Singtel has a guide as well but I find it very confusing. It seems to provide some more advanced usuage but you may have to get the help from Singtel.

Hi, I have a ZTE modem, but I am not sure if it's an ONT or an ONR? The modem only works when connected to LAN port 1, and the other LAN ports do not have network connections. Currently, LAN port 1 is connected to the Singtel Mesh Router, and the network setup is as follows: ZTE modem > Singtel Mesh Router > Samsung Mesh. I want to replace the Singtel Mesh Router with a third-party router, specifically the Asus router.
ZTE modem model: ZXA10 F620G
Product: GPON ONR

The ZTE is configured as an ONT. And yes you can replace Singtel Mesh Router with a better Asus router. You need to configure SingTel VLAN profile for the Asus.

BTW, I am using the ZTE ONT myself, with Asus RT-AX86U router now.
