Few years back I stay in Orange Hotel - Ximen Taipei
Location to ximenting is around 3 mins walk toward the mrt exit1.

If you want cheaper, can check out Airbnb, usually have bigger room at lower price.
I checked Orange Hotel, location wise it's good, near Ximenting and still within walking distance to Taipei main station. Too bad that it doesn't offer 4-pax room.

Airbnb I also checked. Ya there are more choices, just that most impose strict cancellation policy so we really have to be certain with our itinerary before we make booking.

my personal reason why we like to stay XMD area is that the food choice is still aplenty even till late night, including Cinema, Watson.

i stayed at Taipei main station before but come to night time, area not much choice liao.

Midtown is popular due to its proximity to XMD area and it it consider quite a good and big hotel with big space for taxi or airport transfer. i myself feel not that bad and had no problem with overall.
I see. Maybe also because Midtown is quite an atas hotel? Price wise, it's about $70 more per night than Cosmos (if you want room with window).

By night time choice do you mean those which stay open till midnight and beyond kind? If there are still eateries available around Taipei main station before 10pm, then it should be OK for us - we are not the type who like to 'tiong'.

Stayed at Cosmos many years ago.

Good, big and convenient (most important).
Yup. That's why I am seriously considering Cosmos. Among the hotels I've checked, I would say this one offers the best value for money (location good, size good)!

Most likely, it's either an Airbnb apartment (still checking out), or Cosmos for us.

Not sure if it's coincidental, of the hotels' I've checked, I observed that hotel booking sites, esp Agoda's price is almost always cheaper than the hotel's official site's price.. though by not too much - like 10+% at most.

Currently agoda has the best price for most of the hotel. Hotel book direct usually more ex. Air ticket better to book direct.
