Call them up and say you need IPv6, they will replace the nokia onr with a huawei one because the nokia only supports native ipv6 not the tunnel singtel use... Then you can try to request bridging for it or reconfigure it yourself.

Interesting idea. Take note NEW bridging request will not be entertained (since March 2022).

Another thing, there is a new ZTE ONR now in the picture. No idea whether you can bridge it or not.

did you get it working by doing this?

I had my original nokia ONR changed to a nokia ONR then huawei ONR a few months ago due to some technical issues. But both times the onsite technician was unable to configure both replacement ONRs to bridge mode as the settings were locked down from singtel backend and their field usage accounts do not have the necessary admin rights to change the settings.

For the two types of Huawei ONRs, it is said that you can do by your own. Not so sure if it is working now or not. And Singtel can push the ONR profile again and then you will lose internet connection.

I am looking to use my own router. I'm a noob user with no technical network knowledge. Can i do it with the below steps? missing anything else?

Steps
- login to my ONR admin page & change all my LAN ports from ROUTER mode to BRIDGE mode
- login to my personal router admin page\WLAN \ AP mode. set to DISABLE?

I see in earlier replies that even in BRIDGE mode, it sometimes resets to ROUTER mode & results in a "double NAT". so periodically run cmd/tracert 8.8.8.8 to check if that there is only one line of private ip address & not two?

update: as a singtel user you can use your own router, plugged into singtel's modem. I have no idea why the damn technician setting up my internet said I couldn't. There r a few forumers/redditors who faced the same issue. Misinformation.

What is your ONR model?

The recomendation is not to take RISK and bridge the ONR. You may brick the ONR and lose internet access. You may have to pay Singtel to send a technician to replace the ONR (unless you try to convince that it is not your fault).

WC users now also get ZTE ZXHN F620 ONR for 2.5Gbps plan (ZTE F8648P XGS-PON ONR is for 10Gbps plan). It is said that you may be able to get the admin password and potentially bridge the ZTE ZXHN F620 ONR.

Goodness.. this may brick the ONR? are all singtel users sucking their thumbs sticking to singtel's mesh router?

As far as I know, there is no publicly known way to bridge the Nokia ONR G-240G-E by yourself (can only be bridged by Singtel). And Singtel has stopped entertaining new bridging request since March 2022. So you are stuck with the unbriged Nokia ONR.

But even with the unbridged Singtel ONR, you can use your own router and no need to use Singtel issued router.
1) use your own router in AP mode (lose many firmware features of the router, wireless related features will work)
2) use your own router in router mode (Double NAT). This should keeps many firmware features working (some features may not work).

What is your own router? If it is a good one, then you can set it up in router mode and live with the limitations of Double NAT.

Thanks! I did not know i can use my own router in AP mode. but damn.. live with double NAT!? That's a no no

The tech that did my installation2+ years ago simply told me I couldn't use my own router. And since i was on LAN, it isn't a big issue until today when I am looking to improve my wifi signal

I'm aware of how to login to my ONR admin page & am able to switch LAN ports from ROUTER to BRIDGE mode. I have not seen online feedback of ONRs being bricked. Is this really a concern? Why would an ONR get bricked just by toggling admin settings?

Interesting.

There was a recent report of bricking with other types of Singtel ONR in this forum forum. The user had to pay SIngtel to replace the ONR. So there is a rick there.

There were previous reports even Singtel technician bricked the Singtel ONR and then had to get a new ONR for the user. This was when Singtel was still entertaining the bridging request before March 2022.

You may want to post the screenshots of the relevant Nokia ONR UI. Maybe the risk is low.

Reference: similar disucssion in the WC thread with ZTE ONR (Page 93 and 94)
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/whizcomms-new-fibre-broadband-provider.5494964/page-93

Will try after a config backup is done. Just need to find the time. What's the worst that can happen?

device is brick or you're stuck with 1Gbps. For the ONR / ONT sceen, was it on login for the support account or it was a device mode you could set?

It's likely a soft brick. Not sure if resetting it would help, but if one could do a serial dump of the config and restore it, I'll be more open signing up and watse a few weekends to try to bridge the device.

Sorry I do not understand your question.

What is your Singtel plan? Is it 1Gbps or 2Gbps? What do you mean by "only seems to be able to detect 1 LAN port?"

Example connection scheme.
Singtel ONR LAN port 1 -- Singtel Mesh Router (automatically run in AP mode)
Singtel ONR LAN port 2 -- another wireless router or a laptop/desktop
Singtel ONR LAN port 3 -- Singtel TV box
Singtel ONR LAN port 4 -- another wireless router or Game Console

1Gbps fibre singtel plan.

Im doing this:

Singtel ONR LAN port 1 -- Singtel Mesh Router (automatically run in AP mode)
-- Singtel Mesh Router LAN port 2 -- PC desktop
-- Singtel Mesh Router LAN port 1 -- NAS
Singtel ONR LAN port 2 -- Singtel TV box

Somehow, the mesh router only can detect packets from my desktop but not my NAS, i see this from the packet statistics, which means only my desktop can get connection but my NAS does not
