From your traceroute, the traffic probably exited Singtel's network somewhere in the United States west coast, went through some unnamed hops then into M1's network.

On that range, M1 doesn't have Singtel as one of the upstreams unlike the range they actually hand out for prefix delegation. Here you can see either party's business decision at play :o :s13:
I think M1 didn't buy local IPv6 transit from Singtel. Even for the range they hand out for prefix delegation, I think traffic that transit through Singtel's network actually happened in HK instead of SG from my 1 experience with Hurricane Electric.

Edit: I think the traffic flow is something like this: SingTel (SG) > Singtel (US West) > Some Tier 1 ISP (US West) > Some Tier 1 ISP (SG) > M1 (SG)
Might have some hops landing in a country that I didn't list. can't see it in the traceroute.

I'm on whizcomms and I only see FTTH ID, which is a 9 digit number (for me) .

Is this FTTH ID the LOID? Cuz I don't find other instances of LOID.

I believe that is the case. Hopefully @geylynd can confirm.

On the other hand, Whizcomms does not use Singtel VLAN scheme. So there will be some differences in the settings.

ah interesting.

The VLAN ID for internet is also 10 on my ONR like what he mentioned. I deleted the IPTV and voice VLANs since I don't use them. Then I changed the priority of my internet VLAN to 7 lol

Recently recontracted the 1gb fibre broadband with the Singtel "AX5400" Wi-Fi 6 Router but the internet LED light will occasionally turn red which can be resolved by turning off the router power and back on again. It did not happen when we were using the older Singtel AC plus router. Want to check what's the issue before calling Singtel for help.

Sounds strange. You may want to check the Etherne cable between the router and Singtel ONT/ONR. If that does not sort out the issue, call Singtel for help.

Are you using Singtel ONT or Singtel ONR?
Which Singtel AX5400 router are you using?
I will recommend replace the above router with a more stable one like TP-Link Archer AX72 (about S$80 BNIB from Carousell). But if you have Singtel TV box, then the Singtel TV Box needs to be connected to Singtel ONR if you use ONR. If using Singtel ONT then you need to set up Singtel VLAN profile.

I'm using Wi-Fi 6 Router RT5703W and ZTE ONT V4. My ethernet cable connector to the router has a clip missing and might be slightly loose but I don't think its the issue as its able to connect back to the internet every time after each power off and on. If it occurs again, I will try to fasten and secure the connector and see how it goes.

Better change the Ethernet cable and then check how it goes.

If the issue continues, contact Singtel for help.

Received a letter asking me to recontract with Singtel and upgrade from 1 to 2gbps plan at 55.26 per month and comes with 2 free AX5400 WIFI 6 Mesh Extenders which I plan to sell off. Worth it? Is 2gbps and 1gbps really no real world difference for 99.9% of users?

Totally not worth it.

2Gbps is not much different from 1Gbps plan.

SingTel provided mesh solution is lousy.

Whenever Singtel sales person comes knocking the door, I will tell him that I am not interested as they are promoting two things.
1) Lousy Singtel mesh solution if the user wants to stay with 1Gbps plan.
2) Lousy Singtel 2Gbps or 2.5Gbps plan with the lousy Singtel mesh solution. They use Singtel ONR and I consider the plans as a downgrade to my existing Singtel 1Gbps plan with Singtel ONT.

FYI on ONR vs ONT (average user may not care too much).

Recently i had re-contract Singtel 1Gbps to Singtel 2.5Gbps plan . Found that ONR each transmission at Maximum speed of 1Gbps , no much different compare before . Can’t change plan because of 24 months contract 🥲


Current device is

ZTE ZXHN F620 ONR &Singtel WI-FI 6 ROUTER RT5703W


Need expertise advice any way can increase LAN speed to 2.5Gbps ? Thank you very much 🙏

It is an aggregated 2.5Gbps plan, every port is up to 1Gbps plan and totoal is 2.5Gbps download and 1.25Gbps upload. So you need to use multiple routers to fully utilize the bandwidth.

Singtel ONR LAN Port 1 -- Router 1 in AP mode (up to 1Gbps)
Singtel ONR LAN Port 2 -- Router 2 in AP mode or wired device like a computer (up to 1Gbps)
Singtel ONR LAN Port 3 -- Router 3 in AP mode or wired device like a computer (up to 1Gbps)
Singtel ONR LAN Port 4 --Singtel TV Box (if any)

Basically I consider Singtel 2Gbps plan and 2.5Gbps plan to be among the worst ISP plans in Singapore. You do not gain much from 1Gbps to 2Gbps or 2.5Gbps, the bundled mesh solution (if you choose to go with the bunddled mesh solution) is lousy and yet you pay more.

Singtel 2.5Gbps plan is roughly the same as Whizcomms 2.5Gbps plan plus a lousy mesh solution.

But for those who are subscribing to Singtel 2Gbps or 2.5Gbps plan and like to tinker, there are a few ways to gain a bit more.

1) Use Dual WAN Load Balancing capble router (but not Asus due to a limitation) to achieve up to 2Gbps from the 2.5G LAN port or > 1Gbps from WiFi

Known to work -- Xiaomi BE6500 Pro and Xiaomi BE7000, now one more -- TP-Link BE6500.

2) Try to bridge the ONR and choose the Hybrid Mode -- Proceed at your OWN RISK, you may brick the ONR and have to get Singtel to replace the ONR (may have to pay).

My contract is up. I called Singtel and they told me the price for recontract is $49. What other alternative can I go.
