Ya.. FD now very high value...

no la. if i wanted, when COE expiring in 2028, i can prob renew and sell for 170k+ with new 10 year COE

i'm saying this cause now Evo9 with new 10 year COE going for 220k+

2014 wrx auto with new 10 year COE going for 140k

so FD can prob fetch around that same price zone or higher ba since rarer

but i'll most likely bring the car back to the US with me since ive had it forever, moi jin sentimental de.

do you think LTA or NEA will chut this pattern? to kill all the older ICE cars

it happened to motorcycles in 2018, I had to scrap one of my motorcycles because of the new rules/laws

prob, not straight away but most likely start with ICE cars can only renew COE 1 more cycle.

and they'll most likely say 5 year COE nia.

then die die must scrap

i suspect the chain reaction will be something like

2026~2028 = majority of car dealers asked to bring in hybrid or EV nia

2029 = almost no more ICE cars for sale, LTA announce current ICE cars from 2030 if want renew COE, can only do 5 year COE

if want keep older ice cars, they will say convert to classic scheme

like that slowly kill off the ICE cars

doable ba

my cousin drives an audi s5, bought around same time as moi when i got my fd back in 08

he still drives that s5, but i aga aga see him complain to me about his car

the amount of road tax + workshop visits, can prob just buy another car

after first 5 years, the car macham go in/out of workshop every 2-3 months macham charbo go hairdressing appointment rike dat

That's what I was trying to say, drive safe. I will definitely avoid getting myself between two container trucks regardless side by side or front and back.

You certainly know a lot to repair your conti cars on your own to ensure your car is in tip top condition. Unfortunately, that option isn't available to most of us, who don't even have a garage. With more and more electronic chips inside our cars, I'm unsure how you can keep up the expensive equipments to do diagnosis of the car interior and when a chip failed, where do you buy the replacement chip from, if not from say BMW? I know Malaysian distributors will not repair a Toyota car from Singapore, vice versa for any major repairs requiring diagnostics. You must be keeping some very expensive and funky equipment for a particular brand of conti car?

you are sitting too near the steering wheel. try to push the seat as far back as possible so that your head is close to the b pillar

conti cars use thicker sheet metal for their chassis and suspension. that's why the ride is quieter, fuel economy is worse and parts fail faster compared to jap cars

choose hard chassis for safety. push seat all the way back & all the way down, head support adjust height for whip lash. steering wheel all the way down. if you are belted up, you will be safe in accidents

conti cars have alot of problems mainly due to mechanics taking short cuts. mine is very reliable coz i do most of the repairs myself. engine repairs take weeks. suspension repairs take days. that's how long it takes to check and replace every problem part. outside workshops don't have the time. my aircon is super cold and reliable coz i check everything & replace many tiny parts which outside workshops don't bother coz your aircon will last a long time and their business will be affected. jap cars have more spacious engine bays which enhances the life span of parts & makes repairs easier. conti engine bays are quite tight so it's harder. everything is heavier, thicker & more expensive

jap cars are made for fuel economy, reliability & ease of repairs. but this means lower survivability in a crash eg getting sandwiched between 2 containers on a downward slope along loyang ave

2 major accidents in the last 6 months in Tampines where Conti cars hit Japanese cars. All in the news.

Casualties on the Japanese car side, unfortunately.
That's not a fair statement. Both tampines accidents, the conti cars crashed into the side of the jap cars at high speed.

The crumple zones for a car are the front and rear, direct impact to the side esp with such speed regardless of the type of car will also result in casualty or serious injury.
