what current mesh/router set up are u using or intend to use with ur VQ 3 Gbps?
My current router is Asus AX88U. As my pc are using wired connection so will probably getting a router with all 2.5G WAN/LAN ports. I dun mind about the wifi whether is wifi 5/6/7. I oso will need PCIe 2.5G NIC too.

Another noobie question here..
What the benefit to have the access to the ONR? To modify setting inside like DNS?
Err, my only use case is when got some network issue which I suspect is the ONR then i can trigger reboot from my computer rather than walk to my living room off & on the unit. lolx.
DNS I configured on my own router end since bridge mode.

Lolx, if a way u asking how deep his/her pocket :p
LOL....I will always look for the cheapest option to upgrade my network bit by bit.
During my renovation before I move to my new house 2yrs ago, I have layout cat6 cable around my house with RJ45 wall socket in each room. So now I just get a 2.5G router to try out my new bandwidth.

None of the local ISPs supports WAN Aggregation since the ONT/ONR do not support IEEE 802.11ad.
https://www.asus.com/sg/support/faq/1039053/

For local ISPs using unbridged ONR, or using dual 1Gbps plans, then there is a possibility to use Dual WAN Load Balancing.
https://www.asus.com/sg/support/faq/1011719/

However, based on the report here, there is only one LAN port activated for the VQ bridged ONR. So there will be no support of Dual WAN Load balancing either.

You may want to go with an 2.5G capable router and use the 3Gbps plan as a true 2.5Gbps plan. In that case, I will suggest to go with the good ones with dual 2.5G ports. For example, you can go with things like Asus GT-AX6000, Asus TUF-AX6000 (or the China version TX-AX6000), GL.iNET MT-6000, etc, depending on your budget.
Hi @xiaofan one more question, my friend got one Asus AX86U selling me with $100. Is it worth it to get compare with TUF-AX6000 or just top up another $100+ to get iNET MT-6000? Based on normal usage like webex meeting and media streaming only, no gaming.

RT-AX86U is a good router but not so suitable for 2.5Gbps as it has only single 2.5G port.

TUF-AX6000 should be a good cost effective option.

Asus GT-AX6000 is even better and the price of around S$360 BNIB in Carousell is pretty reasonable. This will be my top recommended model if your budget allows.

Choose GL.iNET MT-6000 only if you want to use the more advanced features of OpenWRT.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but since WAN aggregation is not very useful, I only need one 2.5G WAN port. The other 2.5G port can be used for connecting a NAS, wired mesh, or computer. Currently, I only have a NAS connected to the LAN port, and a 1GB port is sufficient for that. In this case, should I still go for the AX6000

Yes, GT-AX6000 is still my recommendation.

But you can choose whichever router you like. It is your money and you should decide.

Note:
No warranty for any free advice in this forum. My recommendation may be wrong or biased too as I am not a real expert in networking. This is also the reason I do not answer technical questions using pm -- I only answer them in the forum so that others can correct my mistake or provide different opinions.

For 2.5Gbe adapter, there are many options from Taobao/Aliexpress.

For 5Gbe adapter, there are not many options. IOCrest has two options with either PCI-E or M2/Mini PCI-E interface.

IOCrest has also 10G options in the above two links. But I guess you can find many cheaper options from Taobao based on Intel server grade networking chipsets, with either SFP+ optical interface or 10GBASE-T copper interface.

For USB4/TB4/TB3 to 10G NICs, most of the solutions are pretty expensive (aroound S$300). The cheapest now is probably IO-HTB113-GLAN the from IOCrest. I bought it from IOcrest Taobao shop and tested it with my Windows 11 laptop and Mac Mini M1. It works well. I bought it at promotion price of RMB 499 plus sea shipment plus GST. Now the price seems to go up a bit but still much cheaper than other options.

so only 1x 10g lan, and i assume the yellows ones are 2.5g

The yellow ones are 1G.

Same for Nokia XGS-PON XS-2426X-A ONR from Starhub (with wireless AX6000), and ZTE F8648P XGS-PON ONR (no wireless) from SingTel, only one 10G port and the rest are 1G ports.

Starhub/MR XGS-PON ONT (Nokia XS-240X-A or XS-250X-A) are configured as ONT so only one 10G port activated.

SIMBA 10G XS-PON ONT (model unknown yet) will single 10G port activated as well. And probably they will have a low cost model with single LAN port anyway, just like the GPON ONT used by their 2.5Gbps plan (single 2.5G port).
