Understand I'll be limited by the UDM, just want it up running for now, also the VQ plan cheapest for now. All the bridged ONR plans cost more with mandatory router, unless there's any cheaper plans out there that I missed.

Maybe in future might upgrade the UDM but not at the moment.

No, the bundled router is not mandatory. You can choose the no router option with the default bridged ONR option.

Oh! I was under the impression that this plan without the router they only give the SFP+ module, so this is just regular ONR/ONT?

Thunderbolt 3 to 10GbE Adapter, not cheap. For devices that may lack pcie slots like laptops, itx mobos.

This one from IOcrest is much cheaper. I bought it from IOCrest Taobao at RMB 499 (plus shipment and GST). It seems to be out of stock now. I tesed it with both Mac Mini M1 and Windows 11 laptops and it is working fine (not so hot either).

For those who want branded USB4/TB4 dock plus 10G NIC, the following can be of a good reference. Of course you can go with OWC dock with built-in 10G NIC as well (not cheap). And there are other USB4/TB4 dock as well.

You can use the above-mentioned cheaper IOCrest 10G NIC as well. Or OWC TB3 to 10G NIC (not cheap).

DIY cheap external Thunderbolt 3/4 EGPU Dock, included 460W csps & 3D Print case. This will work with external PCI-E 10G NICs (SFP+ or 10GBase-T) as well.

waiting for those more portable type of docking dongle for carrying around type.
Currently the portable types are on USB 3/TB 3 type with 2.5G which I think is more than enough on the move.
Price also more affordable.

Best news ever, and the plans are lower price than the other ISPs with 1Gbps, 1+1Gbps and 2.5Gbps. Dunno why anyone would choose the competitors anymore

No more spending and trial and error on gpon sticks that may not work.

Their loss hahaha

Viewqwest China routing and also their internet stability isn't fantastic so even with the sfp+ option, it might not be attractive to some.

Called me 2 days ago say delay from their supplier. Say will deliver and install next Thursday. But will call me again to confirm.. Still waiting for them to confirm
Seems that VQ has limited stock of the Huawei XGS-PON ONU.

VQ e-Store says mid-August --> I guess most of the people rather pay S$99 as a top during sign-up and not to pay S$300 as a afterthought.
https://e-store.viewqwest.com/products/huawei-optixstar-s800e-xgs-pon-sfp-onu

From what I know from my end with VQ, The stock will only come mid-august, that's about it. Hahaha. Router come already but can't use just yet.

Yes @xiaofan I actually ordered through sale's man link and asked him personally regarding the ONU, he said top-up $99 for the ONU since the router plan only has the router only.

@hq83 Wah got delay... if that's the case high chance mine will be delayed as well.

In the meantime since no ONU, VQ give me ONT, but the ONT is useless for my case since I still need the ONU haha.

Except for laptop, i dont see the point of using Thunderbolt adapter for 10G, just use those M2 extender with regular pcie nic card , work great for me.

Indeed, laptop and Apple Mac are the two main reasons using USB4/TB4/TB3 to 10G NICs.

Some mini PCs may also lack the extra M2 slot.
