Hi experts,

I plan to replace old home PC with new one. Mainly for WFH, need to handle large excel files and light video editing. Also use to watch youtube or other streaming services. Plan to go all SDD for storage. All components will get from local store. Is that ok?

@NightRaven49

you need to put a big warning note for these Intel rig, readers may not be aware

it's way too risky now, the company is collapsing, not just the chip issue

Thanks for helping out.

I never hear of teamgroup before, their ram on par with the big guys? And this is the first time i saw 24GB ram :s31:.

As for PSU any advantage getting sf850 than sf850l? As sf850l is cheaper from what i saw on simlim pricelist.

CaseDeepcool CH160 BLACK
imo this is a waste of itx parts as u can get cases with a similar size and layout but with broader compatibility with matx mobos and atx psus that are generally a lot cheaper. they are in quite good abundance on taobao; personally have had 3 such nr200 style matx cases: sktc s200, albox p90 and 笨牛 n20, the latter 2 can be had for around $50 each with shipping and gst. this way, u can opt for the asus tuf b650m-e, which is over $300 cheaper when bundled with the 78x3d at dynacore, and a still decent atx psu like the fsp hydro g pro atx3 850w for $160 from techdeals, almost half the price of the sf850 quoted by kimsix.
CPU CoolerDeepCool ASSASSIN 4S
if no preference for the brand consistency or aesthetic, i would prefer the thermalright phantom spirit 120 for half the price of the assassin 4s, not to mention its better cooling performance on am5 and slightly lower height to fit into more cases.
ram : teamgroup expert 2x24GB 6400mhz from amazon sg $230
2x 16gb enough ba, local set can get for around $170-180, amazon around 150.
psu : cosair sf850 (new 2024 version, no -L, is a standard SFX form factor) from shopee simlim $290
ch160 can support up to atx psu, sfxl no problem. the sf850l is usually around $200, so significantly cheaper than this sf850.

yea.
And this is the first time i saw 24GB ram :s31:.
new capacity for ddr5, 48gb modules also available.

i remember using team ddr2 so they have been around. now i using this 6400 version OC to 7600.

24gbx2 6400 is hynix ic, aim for hynix for ddr5.

sf850 is newest model but mainly is for standard sfx size, which is 25% smaller than sf850l.
sfxl is off shoot of sfx standards, most/all small cases are designed for sfx psu. so you have more small case choices and take up less internal space for easier assembly

2x 16gb enough ba, local set can get for around $170-180, amazon around 150.

ch160 can support up to atx psu, sfxl no problem. the sf850l is usually around $200, so significantly cheaper than this sf850.

amazon.jp got cheap ddr5-7000 2x16gb.

but just yolo get more ram since AI rush will continue up ram prices. 24gb hynix ic is easier to OC to higher speeds at expense of some latency loss.

sf850l local stock think is $50+ cheaper, so is trade-off for more common sfx size in small space joteo secks :o

Any suggestion on case that is available locally? Truth be told, I never use Taobao before. Still need agent to purchase item?

I think i will go with 24gb. I can use it for testing out stuff via VMs.

Thank you both for helping me!

the sktc s200 is available as the montech sky one mini locally and is just 1-2l larger than the ch160, though stock appears to be drying up. a more available case is the tecware fusion 2; sure the volume is not that impressive (~26l vs ~19l), but the footprint is very comparable (391*205mm vs 336*200mm), and without both to compare side by side they would look very similar too. u can also consider the jonsbo z20, though the assassin 4s will likely not fit (ps120 will). the gamemax spark/jonsbo d30 is another alternative, though u lose the tempered glass.
Truth be told, I never use Taobao before. Still need agent to purchase item?
no need. u may even be able to find the oem tecware fusion 2 for cheaper.

trying to part list a build for a bud, kinda in a dilemma over these 2 combos, (pairing with a 7800xt)

op1: better vrms? slightly slower cpu vs op2: good vrm, faster cpu+igpu

option 1: MSI MAG B650M MORTAR WIFI | 7500f $492
option 2: ASUS TUF GAMING B650M-E WIFI | 7600 $486

Compare the i/o, which one have more usbs or nvme ssd slots or sata slots or better wifi, etc... which one fits your needs better
The MSI also have heatsink for the secondary nvme slot but the primary slot is limited to pcie4 compared to the Asus pcie5

Personally, I will prefer the 7600+MSI combo if possible, the igpu is very useful for troubleshooting if your main gpu having problems or down
