SingTel just reduced the pricing of 5gpbs plan + WIFI 7 from $65.90 to $59.90
1. 5Gbps Enhanced Plan with WiFi 7 Router at $59.90/mth (U.P. $95.90/mth)
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/broadband/eform/5gbps

Yes, this is a good option to go. This is quite worth it even compared to the old 5Gbps basic plan @S$49.90 per month promotion with one basic Singtel AX5400 router (the plan I am using).

DO NOT choose the other two options which use lousy SingTel mesh solutions.

1) [NEW] 5Gbps Enhanced Mesh Plan WiFi 6 at $56.09/mth (U.P. $106.09/mth)
Comes with 1 unit of Singtel WiFi 6 Router and 1 unit of Singtel WiFi 6 Mesh

2) [NEW] 5Gbps Enhanced Mesh Plan WiFi 6 at $61.18/mth (U.P $116.28/mth)
Comes with 1 unit of Singtel WiFi 6 Router and a pair of Singtel WiFi 6 Mesh Extenders

3) 5Gbps Enhanced Plan with WiFi 7 Router at $59.90/mth (U.P. $95.90/mth)
Comes with XGS-PON Optical Network Router + 1 unit TP-Link BE22000 WiFi 7 Router

And this is also has better value than the latest Singtel 10Gbps offer, unless you need two TP-Link HB810 triband BE22000 for mesh (mainly for the use case that you have no LAN ports in the rooms and have to use wireless backhaul).

[NEW] 10Gbps Enhanced Mesh Plan WiFi 7 at $89.80/mth (U.P $172.60/mth)
Comes with XGS-PON Optical Network Router + 2 units of TP-Link BE220000 WiFi 7 Router

10Gbps Enhanced Plan with WiFi 7 Router at $79/mth (U.P. $139/mth)
Comes with XGS-PON Optical Network Router + 1 unit TP-Link BE22000 WiFi 7 Router

Not sure if I'm wols, or still early in the morning see wrong, but is this a gamer plan 5Gbps that's possibly not using ONR? 🤔

https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/broadband/eform/gamer-bundle

5gbps setup t&c still remains as ONR setup

https://www.singtel.com/personal/pr...g&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=bestbbplans

Product page still remains as 1+1.
ST always use ONR setup...

haha wow. so not only did they bundle the new 5Gbps gamer plan with a router that cannot handle 5Gbps, they've taken away the one thing that made people want to go for the 1+1 gamer plan - Bridge mode.

no thanks, Singtel. if this is the way it's gonna be, I will be ditching my Singtel plan when the contract is up.

it's been a long time coming.

how you tong for so long :s13:
I've been able to tolerate Singtel only because I also have VQ as a secondary line. And I use policy based routing to pick and choose between the two. So, best of both worlds!

I still find that Singtel seems to have the best connectivity to the US. Ironically, during the recent break in the SEA-ME-WE-5 cable, Singtel (which usually routes everything through the US anyway lol!) worked the best out of all the ISPs struggling to find alternative paths to Europe.

And recently, I noticed their native IPv6 coming in useful for some China-based websites.

So Singtel is not entirely bad, when they allow power users the freedom and ability to use their service to the max. Unfortunately, they seem to be set on catering to the mass market (nothing wrong with that) and completely excluding those who're tech savvy (which is so completely short-sighted).

Having helped people troubleshoot their Singtel network troubles, you kinda know why they decided to do this. These would be the "common folks" for whom broadband and wifi are the same thing, and who don't even know they can customise their Singtel router's SSID and just leave it as default.

When you're the biggest ISP in the country and having to deal with huge numbers of tech support requests each day, you want to keep things as simple as possible. I understand. But if their marketing department is coming up with cutting edge 10Gbps and gamer plans which appeal to the early adopters and tech geeks, then it would appear that their sales strategy is at odds with their network management.

Basically they want their cake and eat it too.

I find singtel's latency to us west coast to be higher than m1/vq when i tested singtel ripe atlas probes to vultr/gcp/cdn77 in LA/San Jose area.

M1 can manage about 162+ms to LA, and VQ about 167ms to 177ms.

But that's talking about the more expensive VPS providers who usually have better peering than the cheaper options.

Singtel has done the 5gbps installation on Monday. Managed to recontract 24mths for the 5Gbps Enhanced Plan with WiFi 7 Router at $59.90/mth with additional WiFi 7 Router ($16.80/mth).

Just want to share on the "USB 3.2 5Gbps Wired Base-T Ethernet Adapter" using the latest Realtek RTL8157 which I have bought to make use of existing Gen 2 USB port to provide 5Ggbps lan port. There is a $5 promo code listed on the product page which you can use.

1) For new user, just use the following link.

https://www.singtel.com/personal/pr...g&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=bestbbplans

Product page still remains as 1+1.

The page is clear that they use ONR and the ONR is not bridged. This is pretty much similar with previous 1Gbps gamer plan (ONR not bridged). It is totally different from the 1+1 Gamer Bundel (ONR with one port bridged and three ports not bridged).
https://www.singtel.com/personal/pr...and/fibre-broadband-plans/fibre-gaming-bundle

How does our 5Gbps Pro Gamer symmetric network work?
Our 5Gbps symmetric bandwidth allows for an equal download and upload speed of 5Gbps on our new XGSPON Optical Network Router (ONR). The ONR has 1x 10Gbps active LAN port that can transmit at a maximum speed of up to 5Gbps, and 4x available active GbE LAN ports that can each transmit at a maximum speed of 1Gbps. These ports can transmit to your ASUS RT-AX86U Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router, Singtel Mesh Extenders, third party router / access point, or Internet-enabled devices (e.g. computer, Smart TV) via a wired connection.

How do I achieve 5Gbps speeds and what speed can I expect?
To enjoy up to a maximum of 5Gbps speeds, your device must connect to the XGSPON ONR via the 10Gbps active LAN port to a compatible ethernet LAN port that supports up to 5Gbps. Your destination app or web server must be connected to a high bandwidth link. There is also a maximum aggregate throughput of up to 5Gbps based on two concurrent download connections. The typical download speed range is computed to reflect that at least 90% of the time, a user should experience the lower bound speed or higher. For more information, visit www.singtel.com/personal/support/broadband/typical-download-speeds.

Singtel 5Gbps plan SpeedTest results with different local servers and a few international servers.

Looks like Singtel has some connection issues with SIMBA.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...rhub-myrepublic-simba-and-vq.6930337/page-221

Speed wise, Singtel 5Gbps is really quite good, and Singtel claimed speed is achieved. They probably forget to update the dates since Singtel does not have 5Gbps plan back in Spet 2023.

FYI on the latest promotional pricing for Singtel 5Gbps plan.

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/singapore-isp-comparisons.6665380/page-44
SingTel door to door sales staff was around my neighbourhood offering 5Gbps plan for $45/month, 2year contract. Just to put it out there for price reference.

Nice. I am paying S$49.90 per month now, with one useless Singtel AX5400 router.

Singtel NTUC offer is at S$47.72 per month.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/lifestyle-services/ntuc#20--off-broadband-plans

But in reality, I think Singtel 5Gbps user may want to go with the more expensive plan with HB810 at S$59.90 per month. The lousy Singtel AX5400 is really not useful for 5Gbps plan.

5Gbps Enhanced Plan with WiFi 7 Router at $59.90/mth (U.P. $95.90/mth)

Singtel is selling the HB810 at S$16.80 per month x 24 months.

I have not set up the Minirouter R1 yet to run PVE now that I can not easily bridge the ZTE F8648P ONR. I will leave it to run Ubuntu 24.04 now.

New connnection scheme to fully utilize the 5Gbps bandwidth.

1) Singtel F8648P ONR 10Gbps LAN port --> Hasivo Switch with dual 10G SFP+ ports + SFP+ copper module (hot, using a USB fan here). I will change it to another Hasivo model with one SFP+ port and one 10GBase-T port so that I do not need to use the hot SFP+ copper module.

2) Hasivo Switch 2nd 10G SFP+ port --> DAC Cable --> Miniroute R1 Intel N100 Mini PC 10G SFP+ port

3) Hasivo switch 2.5G port 2 --> CWWK Intel N100 mini PC with quad 2.5G ports running PVE and virtual
OpenWRT (Double NAT) along with some Linux containers and Linux/BSD VMs -- ZTE BE7200 Pro+ (or Asus TUF-6500) in AP mode.

4) Hasivo switch 2.5G port 3 --> Asus RT-AX86U in router mode using 2.5G port as WAN (Double NAT).

5) Hasivo switch 2.5G port 4 --> Another CWWK Intel N100 mini PC with dual 2.5G ports running PVE and a few Linux contaniners and Linux/BSD VMs.

6) Hasivo switch 2.5G port 1 -- not used now

7) Asus RT-AX86U 1G LAN port --> TP-Link TL-SH1008 8-ports 2.5G switch --> 2.5G LAN port of the two CWWK mini PC and the Miniroute R1 mini PC. This is used as PVE admin access port when I connect my laptop to the Asus RT-AX86U router using wireless. I also use it to SSH/xrdp into the Ubuntu 24.04 Linux installation of the Miniroute R1 N100 mini PC.

Changed the Hasivo 2.5G/10G switch from the smaller S600W-4GT-2SX-S (dual SFP+ ports and quad 2.5G ports) to the bigger S600W-4GT-1SX-1XGT-SE (one SFP+ port, one 10G RJ45 port and quad 2.5G ports).

No need to use the hot SFP+ copper module in the setup now (will still use them in other places, I got 4 SFP+ copper modules from Ganwen, model GW-SFP-10G-T-113).

1) Singtel F8648P ONR 10Gbps LAN port --> new Hasivo Switch 10G RJ45 port

2) Hasivo Switch 2nd 10G SFP+ port --> DAC Cable --> Miniroute R1 Intel N100 Mini PC 10G SFP+ port

3) Hasivo switch 2.5G port 1 --> CWWK Intel N100 mini PC with quad 2.5G ports running PVE and virtual
OpenWRT (Double NAT) along with some Linux containers and Linux/BSD VMs -- ZTE BE7200 Pro+ (or Asus TUF-6500) in AP mode.

5) Hasivo switch 2.5G port 2/4 --> not used.

6) ZTE BE7200 Pro+ 2.5G LAN port -->Another CWWK Intel N100 mini PC with dual 2.5G ports running PVE and a few Linux contaniners and Linux/BSD VMs.

7) Asus RT-AX86U 1G LAN port --> TP-Link TL-SH1008 8-ports 2.5G switch --> 2.5G LAN port of the two CWWK mini PC and the Miniroute R1 mini PC. I also use it to SSH/xrdp into the Ubuntu 24.04 Linux installation of the Miniroute R1 N100 mini PC.
