Am planning to change a system 2 for my 2 room condo ?
Is it better to use 2 x system 1 or a system 2?
What are the rated BTU for these compressors ? Tried to find but couldn't get those numbers.
1. Mitsubishi Electric MXY-2H20
2. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries SCM60YSW
3. Daikin M50VVMG and M75VVMG

Thanks in advanced !
1. 15354 btu
2. 20472 btu
3. 14331btu and 20472 btu

system 2 or system 1 depend on:
  1. if you can tahan the heat or waiting for the repair guy to repair.
  2. who will be servicing the FCU?
  3. there will be 2 set of trucking (unless you want 2 set of system 1 to share a single trunking, which then what the point of getting dual system1) .
  4. 2 isolator is needed for dual system 1
  5. dual system 1 small repair will cost more ( cause you got 2 set ) but you save on the big repair like pcb board ($600 to $800) so might as well get a new system 1 at 1.2 to 1.4k

SM: system 2 is around $2,561 vs dual system 1 (9k + 9k btu) $1,253 X 2 = $2,506 vs dual system 1 (9k + 12k btu) is $2,735

for system 1 SM 12k btu, it standby power is around 4kWh for a month or (1kWh is 0.32 cent, so it $1.28 of standby power)

Depends on the area?

If it's 2 bedroom then a Sys 2 (9+9 or 9+13) is fine.

If money is not an issue of course it's better with 2 System 1. Can go up to 24k BTU for each unit. Don't know you using for bedroom or living room.

@path_of_rainbow

you can search for it in social media on the cost and parts spoil often etc....

in summary,
if you have your trusted ac vendor, then call them for repair, else call starmex ( aka manufacturer itself is the best), but long waiting time.

other then leaking and gas (due to workmanship only), it seem valve and pub board is the is the most common spoil.

valve is like $200++++ but about 70% of the feedback i read, if valve spoil, somehow those ac vendor will say other parts also spoil and add to the total cost until it around 400++++ to 600++++

so the question should be if your AC (system 1 = 9k btu = 1.2k) is at least 4 yr old, and the repair is around $$400 to $500 or if the repair repair is around $900, and a brand new system 1 is $1.2k, will you repair? or get new one?

and if your if your AC(system 2 = 2.5k) is at least 4 yr old and and the repair is around $$400 to $500 or if the repair is around $900 and a brand new system 2 is $2.5k, will you repair? or get new one?

the pros on dual system 1 and system 2 i can think of

My mitsubishi starmex, newly installed also got the water droplets forming on the fins. Then the aircon will blow the water droplets on me. Also, it doesn't seem that good at cooling as it will take more than an hr even to just hit 26 c. And after the installer come and 'fix', got the smelly rag smell for 1 or 2 mins Everytime I on it. This brand new air con, had to call servicing like 5x in 1 year Liao still cannot fix. I gave up

Fin issue can call service centre for replace the coil fin as well.
Did your installer done the vacuum pump before?
Because of the R32 gas cannot without vacuum it.
All the moisture and air inside gas pipe can block the air pressure.

I am still wanna knows , why Singapore installer company don’t have proper rules for R32 gas must be done the vacuum before completed job.
So far if you know about installation work and tell the contractor , they might do for you or else they are acting blur.

Call Mitsubishi and get them to come and check. if they can't find any issue, you get them to change the heat exchanger. but first you must record down the water droplet coming out from your aircon and show them.

I have similar issue with you just that apart from leaking, my aircon is still cold. After changing the heat exchanger, finally no more water leaking out already. btw mine only about 2months+ old. Yours already more than 1 year? then maybe no more warranty by Mitsubishi for the FCU.

my installer I don't remember seeing them doing it also. but recently Mitsubishi came to do a replacement of my heat exchanger for one of my FCU and they did vacuuming. I can clearly hear the vacuum machine working for very very long before they replace the R32 gas again.

Using condensate tablet to test out on my AC. i tested it for 4 cycle aka 4 month.

in short the tablet if you partly remove drain pan to put the whole tablet in or if you dont want remove drain pan, it will work also but you need to chop into 8pcs (4 pc or half a tablet i have mix result)

so using this

if you remove drain pan you can put 2 inside here at the very end of the corner

if you cut a tablet, you need to cut into 8small pcs, or 16pc for 2 tablet
EtTcex8.jpeg

it will rest on the side of the drain pan
wsOKi9H.jpeg

water will then turn green. but it lasted for 2 to 3 times as in it dissolve fast

not sure if it work or not, this is my drain pan when nv been clean before for over 8 mth. it still wet cause my on my AC for over 15hr and then 45min of fan mode ( it seem 45min of fan mode is not enough, maybe 1.3hr of fan mode)

Works. Been using it for 3-4years liao. A different brand white tablet. Never bother to cut. Will last approx 2-3weeks. Just put one tablet every month or if wanna save a bit every other month.
still need to clean the pan eventually. It just slows down the build up.

question - during renovations, should i just change the air con unit and compressor or i should remove the all ducting and piping to start fresh? what are the other alternatives if the cost to tear down is too high?
