I ON my TV 18 hours a day, coz its my PC "monitor". Let's see how long my 85X90L can last ..... 😅

ps: Bet it'll die soon after its 5-years warranty is up! :ROFLMAO:

I'm curious to know what is your viewing distance.

And what is your display aspect ratio?

Is that not too near? My viewing distance is 2.5-3m and I find 75” just nice.
Guess different folks, different strokes. Just as I love big TVs, my mother love tiny ones. LOL

OBTW, I will choose either row 4, 5 or 6 in the cinema, coz I like the immersion of sitting right in front! My sister will always prefer the last 5 rows though.

I'm 2.8m from my 85"..

What kind of content do you watch? I am into motorsports (Formula 1) and Netflix / YouTube, action movies.

I chose the Sony over LG QNED series cos of the 120hz refresh rate which makes it smooth and easier to watch compared to 60hz.

I think 75-85 minimally from 2.8-3m onwards is ok. Anything closer I find a bit too much for me. Especially if you are using it as a display for computing (meaning you need to see at specific parts of the screen instead of whole display)

I used to be a Schumacher fan once upon a time ... until (i) overtaking became almost extinct and (ii) unlikeable people like Max keeps winning, so I switched to MotoGP, WSBK, cycling and badminton live events. There was once I 4-way split-screen my TV, so I could watch biking, cycling and badminton live streams smiultaneously while surfing the web at the same time. LOL

I'm not rich, so I don't subscribe to Netflix, but stream whatever free donghua, anime, drama & movies off Youtube and the web.

Sure, the Sony X90L is pretty smooth in gaming action, but it still feels not-smooth-enough. Would've chosen OLED for their instantaneous pixel response times, but can't afford it. Also, I like Sony's superior image processing which upscales low-res contents really well, and make them look natural. My other LG TV's colors just look "OFF" in some way ... just like the Samsung's over-vivid images.

Like you guys, there were times when I wish I could sit 2.8 - 3 m away; especially when watching melodramas with the actor's face occupying the entire screen, but I can't, coz of my tiny room. 2.4 m and I'll start stepping on the bladeless fan behind me, coz my room's about 2.5 m in width. No biggie though. I'm used to it now. PC work, gaming & movies, I go closer. 16:9 contents, I maximise my 2.3 m distance.

Let's continue to enjoy our awesome Sony TVs! 🥳

OBTW, at just 20% volume, my Samsung Q990C soundbar will shake the glass windows and cupboards in my tiny room! Had to buy a subwoofer acoustic dampening mat to be put under the sub before I can increase the volume further. LOL. Love the overkill TV & soundbar in my tiny room!

I share the same exact sentiments. F1 was boring when Hamilton and Max were overly dominant. But this season is really fun and I’m hoping Ferrari win Constructor and Lando winning Driver championship.

I too enjoy other sports like badminton, tennis, both I only watch men’s singles.

I think OLED is a good to have but for now, Full Array does the job just fine and also within my budget considering the big picture of doing a complete home reno, I really don’t want to over splurge on TV for now. 75X90L is a good and decent mid range to start.

How do you find the default TV speakers? I believe it’s 4 side and down firing speakers right?

I have a Bose 700 Soundbar and Bass module so I will pair with it for home entertainment.

at some point, will consider getting the Teo Heng BMB karaoke set to double those speakers as TV speakers.

Yeah. I'm rooting for Ferrari-Leclarc and Lando as well. Sadly, red team isn't quite up to the task on most occasions. Lando is just too nice on track while Max, the disgusting bully is FIA-shield from penalty.

Live sports, I prefer watching the pretty girls slug-it-out! Same for gaming. lol

Yeah. For way less cost, FALD LEDs are almost as good as OLEDs. Size > Quality for TV anyway.

I find the default speakers sound decent on their own. While not as punchy & immersive as any 2.1 soundbar, the default speakers give even better stereo soundstage than my 990C (coz soundbar only about 60% of the length of the TV, and virtual soundstage can't beat the actual sounds coming from the edges of the TV). I wish there are soundbars matching the length of big TVs ... lol. Sony's Bravia Theatre Quad + Sub will probably be better for surround & Atmos, but too damn expensive!

sou got the 990, youtube got so many great reviews about it.. wonder if should get Samsung instead if its really so good and make use of the Q - syphony ? been headache not sure which better if compare to Bar8/9 or the Quad. the Bars if get the surround and Sub, end up also $2K plus. maybe better value go for Quad, also $2.6 around. But thats about $1K plus more ex then the Samsung 990D. so haeadache

Then the Bravia 7, still very ex now around $2.7K. problem X90L Still selling this year. they make it around $500 gap. hopefully goes down more or must wait till next year until new models out

Bravia 7 too expensive for same size as X90L. Unless you are willing to splurge, it's not that worth it or value for money imo.

Yup. Saw good reviews, so bought 990C, coz about $300 cheaper than 990D, sound about the same and I don't need HDMI 2.1. If no preference, bet Samsung TV with Q990 better. I prefer Sony though - good image processing with natural-looking visuals, good upscaling and motion, so got X90L. Tested Q800C at shop, but Q990C sounds better, so got 990C. Given a 2nd chance, I would pay more for the Bravia 7 or X93L, coz I watch in complete darkness, and as a PC monitor, the blooming around white text on black background makes my eyes tired. As for Sony soundbar, none of them are within my budget. If $$$ no object, I'd get the Quad+Subx2. If you don't watch TV exclusively in complete darkness and don't use it as PC monitor to read white text on black background, I'd say the X90L is good enough.
