funny how people focus on aircon.
I'll be more concerned about "curriculum cuts, including Philosophy, Research Education (RE), and Raffles Academy,".
Philosophy will be an interesting subject to broaden mind and develop different perspectives, just like IB students taking "Theory of Knowledge".
RE and RA to my knowledge are catered for students who have a strong interest in certain subjects and want to go deep into it (it goes as far as uni level). Think of it like a course for the "gifted", except that all students can opt for it as long as they have a strong interest and prove they can handle the rigor.

Research Education sounds decent. Philosophy is a waste of time, for secondary school or university. Raffles Academy is some marketing tool.

The principal is doing right to cut frills at RI.

students from RI pay the school few hundred $ school fees per month if i am not wrong.

tbf they pay at least $300 or more for monthly school fees while government schools monthly school fees less than $50

if already pay so much, they deserve better

If the schools can afford it, I see no reason why they need to suffer the heat. RGS & RI have air-con in the classrooms and the cool environment makes them a pleasant and condusive place to study - cool and quiet. The days are much hotter nowadays with global warming and I am eternally grateful for the invention of the air-con. I wouldn't work for a company that has no air-con either.

Rast time if gotch choice to have fan or aircon, actually i ish will choose fan. Curry nah, aircon ish when if all ish smell good rike office rike that. Rast time all play soccer and basketball then all sweaty then if mix with aircon, the smell wah, need gas mask riao. Chiu all think rike office aircon comfortable rah, but in school the smell of sweaty students from running around or those never shower in the morning, the odour can almost hazmat level.

Just think in ns, just fan only, the sweat 69 riao. Imagine in aircon room, 10x smelly musky.

the aircon issue is just a distraction
people not too familiar with the school will shift focus and side with the principal
very evident in this thread

the focus should be more on the change or drop in curriculum

SG is rich enough to have AC soccer field in every school.

AC is an option. Can choose to turn it on or off as the situation demands for it.

Hopefully in the future SG School will have this option for AC soccer fields.
