I am staying the NE and been with them for about 10 years. No issues

hello, I try to create OPEN VPN server from ASUS router but not successful. It is VQ blocked the port 1194 or external port access?

Do you have static IPv4 add-on? VQ by default is using CGNAT and OpenVPN server (or other VPN servers) will not work.

You can use things like Tailscale/Zerotier/Netbird/Twingate as a potential work-around if you just need remote access back to home network.

If you want to do more, then get the static IPv4 add-on, at S$4.03 per month.

good afternoon, may you share how to flash TX-AX6000 with OpenWRT? I try a long time but not successful from the instruction in openwrt.org with tuf-ax6000

So you mean OpenVPN by default not work. i didn;t use static IPv4 but i used DDNS via noip[dot].com I didn;t observe my IP change this two days. Yes I need to remote back home.

No use. VQ CGNAT will not provide you with a public IPv4 address, so DDNS and OpenVPN server will not work. It is the same for MR. You need to pay for Static IPv4 to get public IPv4 address.

SIMBA is also using CGNAT but it does not provide Static IPv4 add-on. Rather it provides IPv6 but it may not work for quite some use cases.

Hmm, by right it should be the same. If not, then I do not know the reason.

Anyway, the Asus FW is also very good, no need to use OpenWRT for now. In fact, Asus FW may have better wireless performance than OpenWRT.

Let's go to the OpenWRT thread for futher discussions as it has nothing to do with Viewquest.

I did not encounter such issues on my VQ. Are you using their default DNS? Peharps try cloudfare or opendns(privacy)? I run my own recursive DNS on unbound with my Pihole. Don’t really like ISP dns

Hello, +1 on viewqwest peering issues. Viewqwest has had peering issues to 31898@sgw equinix, ticket is with backend, today they added a route to that ip range over their starhub (transit?) connection. The route from equinix to viewqwest IP is over hurricane electric for them. It seems to be that them changing peering makes them end up with very misconfigured routes

Also does anyone know of a way to get them to offer a decent deal for the 10gbps upgrade? Currently averaging $30 a month + ipv4 static. They're offering 10gbps for $36 a month average. Do you think I can do some messaging like they do with new customers with customer service to get a better deal?

Currently using BE-88, is it worth getting the ONU stick from VQ when upgrading to 10gbps, now selling at $99? From what I read SFP+ 10GBase-T RJ45 module runs very hot, will it affect long term usage?

1. The spec of Asus RT-BE88U says that the 10G SFP+ port can only be WAN, I tend to believe it can also be WAN/LAN. Please check.
https://www.asus.com/sg/networking-iot-servers/wifi-routers/asus-gaming-routers/rt-be88u/techspec/
I/O Ports:
1 x 10Gbps for WAN/LAN,
1 x 10Gbps SFP+ for WAN,

1 x 2.5Gbps for WAN/LAN,
3 x 2.5 Gbps for LAN,
4 x RJ45 10/100/1000Mbps for LAN,
USB 3.2 Gen1 x1

2. If the SFP+ port can only be WAN port, then you will have to use it as WAN port and then the 10G RJ45 port as LAN port. Either way you will get hot stuff. In that case, just use a fan to cool down if worried.

1) Using the normal ONT (bigger FIbreHome bridged ONR, or smaler Huawei ONT without voice fuction), then on the WAN side you may need to have a SFP+ to 10G RJ45 copper module which can be hot. There are low temperature modules though (about S$60, cheaper than S$99). So this may still be a better option if you are worried about heat.

2) Using the Huawei SFP+ ONU stick which is also hot.

3. If the SFP+ port can be used as WAN/LAN port, then you may want to use the 10G RJ45 port as WAN and the SFP+ port as LAN. In that case, you can only use the normal ONT.

On the LAN side, you can use either the low temperature SFP+ 10G RJ45 module, or you can use a DAC cable to connect to a mixed 10G SFP+ and 10G RJ45 switch, if you are willing to add a switch.

4. More info --> please refer to the following thread, about the switch and SFP+ modules.

I used the sfp+ port as LAN using DAC to PC. So the sfp+ port can be WAN/LAN port.

I have 2 x 120 fans at low speeds cooling my BE88U, it went from 70c to 49c

When I do a speedtest from a Windows PC I only get 5Gbps upload. Same PC on Linux gets 7Gbps+. Anybody have any idea where the other 2Gbps went? I already disabled the firewall which seemed to help. Download speeds are fine (8200Mbps). I know next to nothing about Windows networking.

Are you using the Speedtest app?

The other 2Gbps eaten by Microsoft and/or the lousy vendor device driver (if you use Marvell chipset based network card). :ROFLMAO:

I think no point troubleshooting, 5Gbps upload is pretty fine.

What is your 10G network adapter? Is it the popular but lousy TP-Link TX401 or Asus XF-100C (based on Marvell AQC107 or AQC113C chipset)?
