this isnt really a diy rig, but just want to seek advice since this seems to be an active thread.

currently on a gaming laptop, looking to get a pc for 1440p gaming.

i would build a pc myself if it was cheaper but,
looking at an invaderpc prebuild it seems to be well-priced.

https://www.invaderpc.com/product/specs29/
Price of $1395

AMD RYZEN 7 7700 3.8GHz 8CORE/16THREAD
MSI B650M GAMING PLUS WIFI
THERMALRIGHT ASSASSIN X 120 R SE ARGB
KINGSTON FURY BEAST RGB 6000MHz 16GB(8GBx2) CL36
SAPPHIRE AMD RADEON PULSE RX 7800XT
CRUCIAL P3 PLUS 1TB GEN4 NVMe M.2
SILVERSTONE ET750-G 750W 80+ GOLD
SAMA SV-01 BLACK TG ATX CASE
4 X 120MM ARGB FANS
HIGH-SPEED AX WIRELESS AND BT | WIFI 6 + BT 5.2
WINDOWS 11 HOME UN-ACTIVATED

Looking at the pricelists from SLS website + techyard, motherboard+cpu+gpu of this build would already cost $1500, i think this is a good deal.

I would probably need to buy a better cpu cooler but other than that,

are there any other glaring problems with this prebuild that i am not seeing?
is it actually not worth value as compared to building myself.
Other than the PSU (which only come with 3 year warranty, to me is a no), I think is ok.

Dear Experts here,
I had tried to checked back few pages in this thread but cannot see/find the detail.

Can you kindly recommend the parts set of a DIY desktop pc setup for "Basic" usage.
Is for my wife use, and mainly use for, FB's games, FB, & Youtube browsing, drama watching.
Extra info, so far and current set the grahic & sound are built-in with mainboard type.
Budget: <$500 preferably if still able to achieve.
Thank you in advance for your kind advices.

Added 9700x to watchlist as well since it's much more valued now
not worth buying over a 7700, unless it is less than 10% more expensive, since the uplift is quite small.

prebuilts in general offer very good performance per dollar nowadays. at this point in time, diy is only worth it for the experience and a truly custom pc, but if all u want is a pc then prebuilts are no brainer from a cost perspective. personally i would get the 7600 + 78xt combo from them for under $1.3k, would be practically the same performance in games.
I would probably need to buy a better cpu cooler but other than that,
u can maybe consider a ram, psu and ssd upgrade in that order. cooler dont have to spend big bucks on an aio, a cheap $20 upgrade to the peerless assassin is more than enough.

B760 and Z790 got what difference other than OC ability?

if ur comfortable buying from jd, not sure why u arent comparing chinese prices for the 7700/x, im seeing 散片 7700 going below 300 on taobao. the 7700 non x already provides about 95% the performance of the 7700x/9700x, so going by the taobao prices u should not be buying the x parts for anything above 320.

generally weaker vrm and feature set (eg fast usb and nvme availability) on b760. this is quite apparent on the specific models u mentioned, with the b760 version having only 2 nvme slots and topping out at 10g usb while z790 has double those.

looks good. the p3 plus is not that great of a drive but should still do fine, then again the t500 2tb is just another $13 away. going for the core reactor ii ve with another $24 top up for additional 2 more years of warranty doesnt sound too bad either.

invaders monitor bundle selection is fairly limited, so id say buy it separately, especially with 11/11 coming up. personally i would look to the aoc q27g3xmn, but thats just me being biased towards something im gonna hoot soon

Thanks for the feedback🙏. I have decided to go with these parts since my main game will be POE, and I don't need RT. Last sight, I hope this build can last me for 5 years, and in future if I need RT gameplays, I would upgrade my GPU only.

AMD RYZEN 7 7800X3D 4.2GHz 8CORE/16THREAD
MSI B650M GAMING PLUS WIFI
THERMALRIGHT PA 120 SE BLACK ARGB DUAL HEATSINK
TEAM T-FORCE DELTA RGB BLACK DDR5 6000MHz 32GB(16GBx2) CL30
SAPPHIRE AMD RADEON PULSE RX 7800XT
CRUCIAL T500 PRO 2TB 7400MB/s GEN4 NVMe M.2
ADATA XPG CORE REACTOR II VE 850W ATX3.1 80+ GOLD
SAMA SV-02 BLACK TG ATX CASE

And for the monitor, my initial plan was the aoc q27g3xmn, since rtings gave a good review of it, but I have never use VA panel before, therefore I'm concerned about the ghosting/smearing since POE/POE2 is dark.

currently using that monitor now, I play cs2 and AAA games usually. 99% of the time you will not use HDR, because its a hassle and will always need to change some settings to make it look nice in regular windows. As for smearing, it is not noticeable at all. One thing i noticed switching from 1440p IPS to VA is that the colours look much nicer and the blacks look completely black even in a dark room(w/o local dimming). However, one thing that stands out to me is that when i played DEVOUR(Dark horror game with my friends), i literally could not see anything past the flashlight and the dark areas were completely black. Not sure if that is the smearing that you are talking about, but i had to turn off local dimming in order to be able to play, because i was almost completely blind lol.

Also sometimes have flickering, but its when FPS drops low to around 60. overall 9/10 monitor with beautiful colours for casual use. Since your use case is POE, i dont suggest this monitor as fps will always be around 60+ and you will experience flickering if you have enabled VRR on the monitor. A decent 1440p IPS monitor will do, maybe the dell G2724D or something similar.

hey guys! I would want to look for a prebuilt PC for the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds game and sadly as the recommend specs kinda far exceeded what I currently have right now, Is it a good idea to wait for black friday to try to find one online or would there be not much a difference?

thanks in advance

probably not much difference if prebuilt, but no harm in waiting. usually its individual parts that are much cheaper during black friday.

Take note that MH Wilds is using the RE Engine which is severely CPU bottlenecked, just like Dragon's Dogma 2 which is using the same engine. Recommened CPUs are the AMD X3D CPUs(5700x3D to 9800x3D) according to Gamers Nexus
Heres the video link and skip to 9:22 to see the results.

thank you very much for the recommendation, my budget is only about close to 2k so I feel it might be hard to get a good specs on both cpu and gpu

I suggest getting the 5700x3d, generally costs $260 and has pretty much same performance as 7800x3d in DD2. Even though the platform is at a dead end, this is still a high quality CPU and much more value than an AM5 CPU right now.

Heres a little mockup:
CPU: Ryzen 5 5700x3D ($258 carousell $200 taobao)
CPU Cooler:Thermalright PA120SE ($48 amazon)
Motherboard: MSI B550M PRO-VDH Wifi($160 amazon, use DBS card for$15 off) 2 SSD slots / ASUS Prime B450M-A II (1 SSD slot but $99)
RAM: Lexar 16GB(8x2) THOR DDR4 3200Mhz ($37 amazon)
SSD: Samsung 990 Evo 2TB ($162 amazon)
GPU: ???
PSU: Thermaltake GF1 850W $147
CASE: Montech Air 903 Max $70 carousell, includes 3x140 fans

This adds up to $867, which you can spend around 1k for the gpu. However, new AMD/NVIDIA gpus coming soon, could release before MH Wilds come out. PSU/Motherboard pricing probably could be better, but this is the best i can find.

What's the difference between getting a PC built at Invader PC vs picking parts at Dynacore and ask them to build one?

I wanna get a 5090 PC next year at a cost-effective shop with good after-sales support. I like Aftershock's "Free Lifetime Cleaning" service, but their 9800X3D is $300 more than their 7800X3D. Dynacore's 9800X3D is only $150 more than 7800X3D. Seems cheaper to get at Dynacore, but doubt they provide free PC cleaning. Invader PC probably no free cleaning as well. Mansa Computers, I think charge $120 for PC cleaning. LOL.

Any other place I should consider buying from?
I want to be able to pick my parts/components. Not keen on most pre-built & ready-to-ship.
I got my PC from Cybermind about 12 years ago. It's dead now.

Where do you think I should go? Please advise. Thanks!

ask them what is the turnaround time for cleaning. If the PC is there for 2 weeks for that, will you be willing to wait? Also you need to send them in and collect at their HQ .

Im also looking to buy new PC from Invader next year (after the Blackwell GPUs are out). I think Invader has free dust cleaning as well, but not sure about the details need to check with them.

2k is plenty for a decent cpu + gpu, especially if u buy prebuilt. right now u can get a 7600 + 78xt from invaderpc for less than 1.3k, which can do 4k gaming quite well and u will be set for the next few years. u can consider faster parts like the 78x3d or 4070 super, which are considerably more expensive but both can still be fit within 2k.
I suggest getting the 5700x3d, generally costs $260 and has pretty much same performance as 7800x3d in DD2. Even though the platform is at a dead end, this is still a high quality CPU and much more value than an AM5 CPU right now.
am4 isnt worth it for builds costing over 1k, and the 57x3d is only really for those already on am4. depending on the resolution, cpu may not matter as much, even in cpu bound engines like ue5.
PSU: Thermaltake GF1 850W $147
i would go for a local set adata xpg core reactor for $20 less.
What's the difference between getting a PC built at Invader PC vs picking parts at Dynacore and ask them to build one?
price and flexibility. invader pricing is pretty good, most of the time u diy also cannot beat, but u lose the choice in picking the exact parts u want. going to dynacore is the exact opposite, but thats not to say one is better over the other.
I want to be able to pick my parts/components. Not keen on most pre-built & ready-to-ship.
then u really have to diy or go pc shops, including cleaning the pc or just suck up the cleaning cost. most system integrators have a very limited selection of parts compared to diy.
