Can work but you may not need the 710 router in the Master bedroom.
Need, unfortunately … from AC through AX, with primary node at DB, the load bearing walls between this corner of my home to my master bedroom at the 45-deg opposite corner, I get no 5G and 2.4G is spotty. Doubt the problem goes away with Wifi 7.

ONT perform better than ONR in the sense that you control the "computing" to manage the network packets flow, When using ONT, you have the choice to choose higher performance "wifi" router for improve "General" network performance.

When using ONR, Your router "General" network performance is limited by the ISP provided ONR

Wifi performance is dependent on number of antenna + WIFI version 6/7 etc... which is on a separate topic.
Majority of my colleagues (engineers) I talked to don't know anything about wifi 6/7, and proudly said they just use the "free" router given by ISP. I guess most would be happy to get ONR

Sorry, a little slow to this. Is the 29.55 promo still available? Any link to access it? Does it include either the ONR or ONT? Thanks!

Yes. Asus has EOLed all the AC routers and you should upgrade due to security concerns.

Last FW updates for Asus RT-AC2600 was in March 2021.

If I get 1 EB810V as the primary and 1 HB710 as the secondary in the master bedroom, would that work? EV810V connect to the interchange at the DB box, I’m thinking 10G to master bedroom connect to HB710, 2.5G connect to living room and study room … study room desktop direct wired connection.
Yes, that would work. However since the EB810V is $168 more than a HB710 ($360-192), you would essentially be paying that for a 2.5Gbps switch. For that price, you can top up a little and get a 10Gbps switch and be able to not only do a 10Gbps backbone with HB710, but also feed 10Gbps to all the LAN points around the house. With the EB810v, you are feeding only 2.5Gbps LAN around the house because its LAN ports are 2.5Gbps.

Don’t see it being any different though … for that price difference the switch you can get would be like 10G in 2.5G x4 out … 10G in 10G out switch is around $3xx pushing $400 already.

Was thinking this bad boy

Microtik 10Gbe switch

I don’t have it, but some forumers using Microtik in 10Gbe threads

Some forumers also bought the Sirivison 10Gbps switches for less

The Mikrotik would work out to be slightly cheaper than TP-Link’s 5-port but still works out to be in the lower $3xx’s, and in exchange no local warranty yes? Think if already spending $3xx on the switch might as well get the TP-Link with local warranty?

But in any case, either 1 would be a $7xx solution with 2 HB710s, vs a $5xx solution with a primary EB810V feeding 10G to a secondary HB710 and 2.5G to the living room and study.

If you have firmly decided to go for the S$29.55 ONT/ONR plan, you can go ahead and sign first then delay the installation of the ONT/ONR by changing the date with Starhub CSO until your house is ready. NLT will setup at their own date and should not require you to be around when they do so. This way, you lock in the plan first. In case Starhub decide to end this S$29.55 plan.

thks. Got any recommendations? preferably less than $100

TP-Link HB710 at S$192 (dual 10G ports, triband BE18000) from Stathub is a great deal.

But if you really want to spend less than S$100, then you can consider buying Archer BE230 from Carousell (dual 2.5G ports, three 1G LAN ports, dual band BE3600).

Starhub trooper just installed ONT & HB710 today. thought saw his wired speed tester registered more 3 Gbps tried with my macbook pro(2018 model) couldn’t get download speed more than 1Gbps.

Tried changing rebooting, resetting and changed optical & ethernet cable.

Should I get technical support to troubleshoot?

Is Starhub’s 5G and 10G islandwide-ready, or like M1 still not islandwide?

I had an error halfway through my application, did not specify reason when the prompt came up, but when I clicked back I got a page saying my address is not fibre-ready? :s22: If so, all the discussion on the 10G router/mesh/switch no meaning for me anymore :frown:
