Simba being available has nothing to do with M1 being available. The upgrade that is required is by M1. Did you manage to get the speed after the upgrade?

I would have assumed they shared the same backend infrastructure (from OpenNet or Netlink trust), guess I'm wrong.

Not sure if the speed is there cos they will only install the ONT on Tues, will update the speed after install.

Speed should be there. I speedtest just now from my PC, maxed out at 2.5gbps due to my lan card only support 2.5

Fibre infrasture -- same for all ISPs, NetLink Trust. Ready for 10Gbps plans long ago.

Access Network and Core Network --> each ISPs will have their own access network (ONT/OLT) and backend core network (routers, switches, servers, etc).

M1 is slow to upgrade its own network. All the other ISPs are ready.

BTW, last year Starhub had some issues with Core Network upgrade which caused network congestion and slower speed during peak time, but later they fixed the issue.

Didn't receive any email regarding the 6gbps recontract offer. Hope to receive it too

Is this offer considered one of the best now?

If money is not an issue, better to choose BT10 over BE805? Whats the diff?
I chose BT10 cos of the small form factor (can hide inside my slim TV console) and also cos my FTP is at one corner so need twin pack to cover my 4-bedroom unit. The IoT devices initially have difficulty connecting to the IoT network but it was resolved via manual setup to create a separate 2.4Ghz band and combining only 5Ghz & 6Ghz in the main network. The BT10 does not seem to work well with older routers so additional nodes if required should preferably be BT10 too.

What’s the go-to method for linking up the new multi-gigabit plans to SFP+ firewalls? Currently have a UDM-Pro and looking at the 6/10Gbps plans.
Current thought is to use a newer <=2W SFP+ to RJ45 connector from 10Gtek (ASF-10G-T80) but I’m not sure how the link negotiation will work out as it’s >5 but <10Gbps

Do we need to register the M1 given TP-Link Archer BE805 for the 3 years warranty coverage?

hi, older routers from ASUS?
I am now having about 4 ASUS routers in my Aimesh, planning to replace 2 of them with this twin pack BT10.
does BT10 not work well with older ASUS routers?
how old is old? and what exactly not working well? 🙏

Your plan should work.

The link speed between your router and the M1 XGS-PON ONT's 10G LAN port will be 10Gbps, no matter you have M1 3Gbps/6Gbps/10Gbps plan. The speed limit comes from M1 side network equipment, not from your ONT.

If you use Ethernet Backhaul, AImesh will usually still work even with the old ones.

If you use wireless backhaul, then better not to use the old ones, especially dual band ones. If you follow Dongknows' recommendation, you'd better not mixing with old non-WiFi-7 ones with WiFi 7 ones, when using wireless backhaul.

I have Asus AX3000, AX82U & AX Mini. From my testing, the backhaul connection using 5Ghz band is not that great. The client devices only connects to BT10 even if the wifi 6 routers are much nearer to the device.

I only succeeded in getting AX82U to work properly using powerline backhaul. I am using the older router for a more stable connection to the Steigen laundry rack which is a very fussy client compared to my other IoT devices 😅 . For this, I only require strong signal strength not data transmission rate.

I also tested using SingTel wifi 5 router which worked with my older Asus routers but not BT10.

I think the older routers might work well by turning off wifi 7 mode on BT10 but you will only get wider coverage and faster CPU without the full connection speed. The BT10 in wifi 7 mode gives significantly better connection speed even for wifi 5 & 6 clients.

Yes, I will say it is a good deal (S$13 OFF from the normal price), but not as good as the 6Gbps plan recontract offer at S$44.90 with a pair of ZenWiFi BT10 (S$15 OFF from the normal price).

But if you like to have faster 10Gbps plan (actually only up to 8.3Gbps due to XGS-PON limitation) than 6Gbps plan, just go ahead.

hi this plan is $32.90 promo price for 6Gbps. +$12 for Asus BT10

= $44.90

Quick question, is there a need to top up $12 extra for BT10?
TP-Link Be805 not good enough for normal daily use?

1. No need. TP-Link Archer BE805 should be fine for typical usage.

2. But if you need a mesh solution or if you like the Asus FW features (like AIprotection Pro) and long term FW support, then ZenWiFi BT10 is better.

3. If you want to sell the routers to offset the subscription price, then ZenWiFi BT10 is also better. The price is subject to change so the following is only for your reference.

6Gbps recontract offer at S$32.90 per month with TP-Link Archer BE805, selling Archer BE805 at S$300, effective price of M1 6Gbps no-frills plan is at S$20.40 per month.

6Gbps recontract offer at S$44.90 per month with two ZenWiFi BT10 units, selling the two ZenWiFi BT10 at S$720 total, effective price of M1 6Gbps no-frills plan is S$14.90 per month.

Or you can sell one unit of ZenWiFi BT10 at S$360 and keep one for own use, effective price of 6Gbps plan +one ZenWiFi BT10 is at S$29.90 per month, slightly cheaper than S$32.90 per month of 6Gbps + Archer BE805.
