Recontracted the 6Gbps for parent's place on Thurs. TP-link router was delivered today (delayed by a day). On M1 website it says the postal code address is not eligible for 3Gbps above. However when doing the check from Simba broadband website, it's valid.

Anyway proceeded to recontract from M1 website, it completed successfully. Maybe M1 site is not updated, since Simba one state the address is valid and the recontract also went thru. If not the pricing is still cheaper than existing 2Gbps plan.

thank you for information xiaofan. The PCIe slot is 1 for 1 replace 2.5g for the 10gbe nic right ?

If your existing PCIe x 1 slot has a 2.5Gbe NIC, remove it and put in the 5Gbe NIC. In general PCIe x 1 slot does not support those 10G NICs.

If your existing PCIe x 4 slot has a 2.5Gbe NIC, remove it and put in the 10Gbe NIC.

Speed should be there. I speedtest just now from my PC, maxed out at 2.5gbps due to my lan card only support 2.5

Fibre infrasture -- same for all ISPs, NetLink Trust. Ready for 10Gbps plans long ago.

Access Network and Core Network --> each ISPs will have their own access network (ONT/OLT) and backend core network (routers, switches, servers, etc).

M1 is slow to upgrade its own network. All the other ISPs are ready.

BTW, last year Starhub had some issues with Core Network upgrade which caused network congestion and slower speed during peak time, but later they fixed the issue.

I will say YES, it is the best among all ISP offers as of now, if you can get it (M1 6Gbps needs to be available in your area).

If money is not an issue, better to choose BT10 over BE805? Whats the diff?

I chose BT10 cos of the small form factor (can hide inside my slim TV console) and also cos my FTP is at one corner so need twin pack to cover my 4-bedroom unit. The IoT devices initially have difficulty connecting to the IoT network but it was resolved via manual setup to create a separate 2.4Ghz band and combining only 5Ghz & 6Ghz in the main network. The BT10 does not seem to work well with older routers so additional nodes if required should preferably be BT10 too.

What’s the go-to method for linking up the new multi-gigabit plans to SFP+ firewalls? Currently have a UDM-Pro and looking at the 6/10Gbps plans.
Current thought is to use a newer <=2W SFP+ to RJ45 connector from 10Gtek (ASF-10G-T80) but I’m not sure how the link negotiation will work out as it’s >5 but <10Gbps

Your plan should work.

The link speed between your router and the M1 XGS-PON ONT's 10G LAN port will be 10Gbps, no matter you have M1 3Gbps/6Gbps/10Gbps plan. The speed limit comes from M1 side network equipment, not from your ONT.

If you use Ethernet Backhaul, AImesh will usually still work even with the old ones.

If you use wireless backhaul, then better not to use the old ones, especially dual band ones. If you follow Dongknows' recommendation, you'd better not mixing with old non-WiFi-7 ones with WiFi 7 ones, when using wireless backhaul.

I have Asus AX3000, AX82U & AX Mini. From my testing, the backhaul connection using 5Ghz band is not that great. The client devices only connects to BT10 even if the wifi 6 routers are much nearer to the device.

I only succeeded in getting AX82U to work properly using powerline backhaul. I am using the older router for a more stable connection to the Steigen laundry rack which is a very fussy client compared to my other IoT devices . For this, I only require strong signal strength not data transmission rate.

I also tested using SingTel wifi 5 router which worked with my older Asus routers but not BT10.

I think the older routers might work well by turning off wifi 7 mode on BT10 but you will only get wider coverage and faster CPU without the full connection speed. The BT10 in wifi 7 mode gives significantly better connection speed even for wifi 5 & 6 clients.
