Earlier on March 25, ST reported that Ms Goh Hanyan, a director overseeing Singapore’s Smart Nation and artificial intelligence (AI) policies, had resigned and is set to join politics.

Ms Goh, a director in the Smart Nation Strategy Office and the national AI group for policy and strategy in the Ministry of Digital Development and Information, will leave the service on April 3.

ST had earlier reported on the resignations of deputy secretary Jasmin Lau from the Ministry of Health and Mr Foo Cexiang, a director from the Ministry of Transport.

I thought NCM will be parachute into a safe GRC, in particular Pasir Ris to replace Teo Chee Hean.

PAP might have some interesting plans.

Agreed on this aspect. As mentioned before in my opinion the main issue is not the political party in charge but the political system. Personally feel that it is extremely unhealthy for a political party to have an overwhelmingly majority.

PAP has e.g 55% - 60% of seats in Parliament instead of around 90% now, then they have no choice but to listen to the people as they have to seek a compromise with the other parties to pass through bills, etc.

Take Japan's current ruling party for example, now Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) only has 41% of the seats (Their coalition with Komeito together is 46%, but they are technically an alliance of 2 different parties whose views are quite different) but they are still the ruling party cuz they hold the most seats.

This kind of structure will lead to the different political parties being forced to listen to the people, due to the fact that no one party has the overwhelming majority to pass bills on their own thus they need to seek a compromise down the middle.

Technically, PAP can still be the ruling party even when they hold 60% or more seats but unable to pass through bills on their own because they do not have 2/3 of majority seats.

Personally feel that this kind of political structure is more suitable for SG, over the years PAP has passed through bills such as increase in GST/Medisave/CPF, COE, HDB-related policies (including BTO), POFMA, and Manpower-related policies (including **** and other Free-Trade Deals), etc. unopposed due to the fact that they hold close to 90% of seats.

WP and PSP's presence were unable to stop them. Thus, a Proportional Representational system kind of voting system is able to reflect popular sentiments more accurately (based on voting shares, etc.)
55 (PAP),
32 (WP),
10 seats (PSP) most ideal.
It will take at least 15-20 years for WP to break PAP's supermajority in Parliament.

Till date, I am not sure why Singaporeans prefer to give PAP a supermajority in Parliament.

Singapore is an only country with ruling party constantly holding supermajority in Parliament since independent.

I agreed with Pritam said earlier this week. In the past, the founding PAP members want an Opposition presence in Parliament to check on the incumbent. But recently, PAP gave me a vibe that they want to win all seats if possible and do not care if there are no elected Opposition MPs in Parliament.
cos they are losing it... they are straddling around 50-60% votes...

Boomer generation + Public service is largest employer in SG
Over the years, the voting population of the Baby Boomer generation has decreased as some have passed away due to illness, but the gap left by their passing is filled by new citizens.

I worked in private sector for the past 4 years and realized most of married aunties (in their late 40s to early 50s) in my office are pro-PAP. I observed most guys are more daring to vote against the incumbent.

Of course, we want that! no gst increase steamroll onto citizens faces with more opposition to counter you donkeys to have a free pass in parliament whenever it come to increasing cost of living to the middle class and lower class , which PAP does it without any hesitation. Ask them to increase Elites tax, they will hesitate and come out with all sorts of excuses.
The tax v high leh once hit the mid tier
Not high meh
