Funny thing is, we abhor the idea of $5 wanton noodles but don't think twice about shelling $15 for ramen.

its own choice ma... u go to ramen place knowing it will not be cheap
but u go hawker center to find cheap and good food.. but u cant find cheap food then how?

My point being, why should the government step in to intervene about the cost of dining out? This is the part where the free market should be at play.

If you are good and popular, whole day have long queue I think it's your prerogative to raise prices. Hawkers shouldn't have to be responsible to feed the entire nation.

the point of a hawker or why ppl go to a hawker the biggest point its cheap and good... at that price point.
if the prices of the ramen at hawker is 15 and price of the ramen at the restaurant is also 15 even with the gst and service charge u will know paying 19% more gets u aircon
even on other food.. the point is cheaper..... of coz everyone has their views and welcome to disagree..
